Description

Reset of change documents and related transport requests of a change

cycle after a system upgrade of the development system.

Purpose

The goal of the report is to simplify the required steps that have to be

performed after a system upgrade took place while your implementation

project (regardless of whether it is Focused Build or Change Request

Management) is still ongoing.

Prerequisites

The report can only be executed for a change cycle with change documents and related transport requests of an upgraded development system. The report must be executed immediately after the upgrade has been performed as the report contains a check for different system versions of the existing transport requests and the current version after the upgrade.

The report checks whether the user starting the report has appropriate authorizations. The authorization object FB_RES_CDcan be maintained in different ways, e.g. a user can have authorizations to execute it in test mode only for a specific development system / client.

Features

Selection

There are 3 mandatory selections:

1.,,Change Cycle – select the change cycle you want to reset

2.,,Development System – select the ID of your Development System

3.,,Client – Select the Client of your Development System

You can use the F4-help to select the right values.

Note: In case you select a release cycle with dependent cycles (predecessor and/or successor) on the same development system, also the change documents of these cycles must be reset to be consistent. In such a case the report will give you an information message that predecessor or successor cycles exist with the related IDs.

Additional selection:

Transaction No. – here you can specify one or several documents that should be reset (e.g. Work Item or Normal Change) – Note: You can leave this field empty. In this case, all change documents of this cycle with transport requests for the selected development system will be reset

Test Mode – set the flag to simulate the report without performing changes

Output

After the report has been executed the log will be shown. The log can be called separately in transaction SLG1:

Object: /SALM/

Subobject: /SALM/RESET_CD

When the Test Mode Flag is set, the log will be shown but the selected changes won't be executed. Please note that a test run is also not available afterwards from the SLG1-log.

Important

When change documents are resetted, the related, released transport requests are repacked into a new transport and this one will export the latest version when released.

In case the objects are already changed in other transports, the resetted change and his transport will also contain those changes in addition. Due to the nature of a "Reset", this cannot be avoided and might be even needed due to the upgrade in the development system for SAP owned Objects.
