Title

Geocoding of Locations with Initial Geocoordinates

Purpose

This program enables you to schedule background processing to supply all locations whose geocoordinates are still initial with the correct geocoordinates. This is important for all locations that were not supplied with the geocoordinates automatically at the time the associated address data was created or changed. Whether or not the geocoordinates are created automatically depends on the geocoding program you selected in the Implementation Guide (IMG) and the Release under which the location was created.

If locations to which no geocoordinates have yet been assigned exist in your system, you can run this program.

The geolocation (geographical location) is defined by the following data:

• Longitude

• Latitude

• Time zone

• Precision of the geolocation (e.g. continent, country, region, postal code)

The transportation zone coordinates are calculated by a geocoding program. Geocoding involves determining the associated geographical longitude and latitude for the relevant address data. You can then use this data to calculate the distance between two locations.

Prerequisites

You make the basic settings for geocoding in the Implementation Guide (IMG) under SAP NetWeaver-> General Settings -> Set Up Geocoding.

The initial geocoordinates are calculated on the basis of existing address data. A prerequisite for geocoding is therefore that the necessary address data fields on the Address tab page are populated for each location.

Features

Selection

After starting the program, you select one of the following start time options:

• Immediately

If you choose this option, the program is executed immediately the start time specification is saved.

• Date/time

In this case, the program is started at the specified time on the specified date.

• After job

Here you can specify another background processing operation, which must take place first.

• After event

Here you can specify the event after which your background processing is to start.

• Operation mode

Here you can specify that the program is to be started in the case of a predefined operation mode (e.g. night operation)

It is also possible to carry out background processing periodically (e.g. weekly) or specify calendar restrictions (e.g. no execution on Sundays or public holidays).

On the second screen, you can specify whether the background processing is to take place at a certain time on a certain workday in the month (based on the factory calendar).

Once you have entered all the start time data, save your input. A message appears, informing you that the background processing has been successfully scheduled. The background processing is then carried out at the specified point in time.

Via System -> Services -> Jobs -> Job Overview, you can display your scheduled background processing jobs. Once the program has run in the background, you can check the processing status here.

Output

The geographical data of the locations are to be found on the General tab page.
