Purpose

You can use this report to test the distance and duration determination (DDD) for one or more requests. A request consists of the following parameters:

  • Start location
  • Destination location
  • Means of transport
  • DDD strategy (optional)
  • Geocoding level (optional)

Note: If you do not specify either a start or a destination location, the system considers all locations that have been maintained in the system for the location without an entry.

With the report you can do the following:

  • You can test if a DDD strategy or the distance and duration strategy determination works for one or more requests.
The report displays which requests have successfully been processed or not. It lists system messages related to the selected strategies you are testing, or, if you have activated the strategy determination, it lists system messages related to your entire test run. If a request has failed, the system messages indicate which settings you need to adjust to ensure that the distance and duration determination can work without errors.
  • You can compare different DDD strategies to find the one best suited to your needs with regard to its reliability and performance.
The report displays indicators such as elapsed time which give you an idea of the performance of specific strategies.
  • You can test the Customizing settings you have made for the strategy determination.
  • You can calculate the distance and duration between a start and a destination location for different DDD strategies and geocoding levels.

Note: The report does not change the buffer for the distance and duration determination.

Integration

Prerequisites

You have maintained Customizing settings for the Customizing activity Determine Strategy for Distance and Duration Determination. You maintain the settings in Customizing for SCM Basis under Master Data -> Transportation Lane -> Distance and Duration Determination -> Determine Strategy for Distance and Duration Determination.

Strategy Selection

You can test DDD strategies as follows:

  • You can test one or more specific DDD strategies in combination with a geocoding level. The system tests if the distance and duration determination works for a given strategy and one or more requests. If you are testing more than one strategy, the system analyses the results by strategy.
Note: If you do not specify a strategy in the Strategyfield, the system selects all existing strategies. If you do not specify a geocoding level in the Geocoding Level field, the system uses the default geocoding level.

The system only performs strategy determination if the usage of GIS tools is enabled and you have set the GIS Qualityoption for the selected means of transport. You maintain the settings for the GIS tool usage in Customizing for SCM Basis under Master Data -> Transportation Lane -> Distance and Duration Determination -> Set Usage of GIS Tool.

Straight Line Distance Restriction

You can restrict requests on the basis of their straight line distance. This allows you to test specific Customizing settings you have made in the Customizing activity Determine Strategy for Distance and Duration Determination.

Example: You restrict the requests that the system tests to those where the start and destination locations have a straight line distance range of minimum 100 and maximum 200 kilometers of each other.

Options
