Purpose

The replenishment run is performed for selected storage types, storage bins, and products. The results are replenishment warehouse tasks.

You can schedule the replenishment run in the background, or you can perform it in an online mode. If the replenishment run is performed in the background, Warehouse Management (WM) performs all the necessary replenishments. In an online mode, you can modify the list of all replenishment items proposed by the system. You can change the replenishment quantity and deselect entries.

Planned Replenishment

Planned replenishment takes account of the maximum and minimum quantities stored in the fixed bin. If a bin contains a product quantity that is lower than its minimum quantity, WM attempts to fill up the bin to the maximum quantity.

WM rounds the replenishment quantity up to a multiple of the minimum replenishment quantity that you have maintained at storage type level in the product master. If the minimum replenishment quantity is not maintained at storage type level in the product master, the system sets the quantity to one base UoM.

Order-Related Replenishment

Order-related replenishment takes account of neither the maximum nor the minimum quantity. Instead, it calculates the replenishment quantity based on the expected stock removals. If the current quantity of the product in the storage type or bin is less than the total open delivery quantities, WM performs replenishment. In this case, WM rounds up to a multiple of the minimum replenishment quantity.

WM considers the requested batches in open outbound delivery orders when performing order-related replenishment. This means that the replenishment quantities that the system proposes are more accurate, and the system provides the requested batches for picking.

The system rounds up to multiples of the replenishment quantity on batch level, that is, for each batch.

The system checks the maximum quantity allowed for each bin against the sum of all batches of the product during replenishment run. If several batches are requested in open outbound delivery orders, it is possible that replenishment is not triggered for all of them.

Note
If there are several open deliveries for the same product, with and without batches, it is possible that the delivery without batches is picked first and uses the batch that was intended for another delivery. Therefore, it is not guaranteed that the system picks the correct quantity of the given batches during warehouse task creation for delivery.
