Use

You can use this app to perform the following actions:

  • Change the stock type of stock in the warehouse
  • Create an inspection document and post the stock to quality management (QM) stock
  • Post consignment stock in the warehouse to own stock

To perform these actions on a recurring basis in the background, create a variant with dynamic date calculation using the Schedule Stock Attribute Changesapp.

Features

Selection

You can enter details in various fields to help the system determine the stock whose attributes you want to change. Some fields become mandatory depending on the type of change you are making, for example:

  • If you want to change the stock type, you must use the Target Stock Type field and the Movement Reason field.
  • If you want to post consignment stock to own stock, you must use the Movement Reason field.

The Simulate field allows you to see the results without saving any data into the database. This is useful for test purposes and to ensure that you've filled in the selection parameters correctly.

Output

The system generates a list of the stock items that were changed, with the following exceptions:

  • If you changed the stock type, the system doesn't list stock that matches the selection criteria if it already has the target stock type.
  • If you created inspection documents, the system doesn't list stock items that already reference an inspection document.
  • If you posted consignment stock as own stock, the system doesn't list stock with a document reference or stock that's already own stock.
  • If you posted consignment stock as own stock and there are open product warehouse tasks, the system reduces the stock to be posted by the amount of the open product warehouse task.
In the list, the stock item with the reduced amount of the open product warehouse task is marked with a yellow traffic light. The system doesn't take the quantities of open handling unit (HU) warehouse tasks into account as the whole HU is moved.

If the stock was processed successfully, you can see the new stock type, the newly created inspection document number, or the new owner. If the stock wasn't processed successfully, the old stock type or old owner and stock usage remain, or the inspection document number remains empty. Then the displayed quantities are not the posted quantities, but the original quantities. Note that the stock type attribute in the list refers to the stock's target stock type. For consignment stock postings, the new owner is displayed next to the original owner.

There are traffic lights for each list item to indicate successful or unsuccessful stock postings, as follows:

  • A green traffic light means that the stock was fully processed successfully.
  • A yellow light means that the stock was partly (partial quantity) processed.
  • A red traffic light means that the stock wasn't processed because of errors.

Only the stock items that could be at least partially processed (partial quantity could be posted) are modified and posted. You can refer to the application log for further information about unsuccessful stock postings. You can access the log using the Message Log button on the list screen.

Notes

  • The displayed quantities are always in the base unit of measure, even though the stock on the bin might be shown in the alternative unit of measure in, for example, the warehouse monitor.
  • If you want to create an inspection document, you must create an inspection rule with inspection object type (IOT) Q-Inspection Product/Batch Whse-Internal (IOT 5).
  • During consignment stock postings, you'll get an error if the mixed stock check is unsuccessful.
This can often happen if mixed owners aren't allowed based on the settings of the target storage type and if multiple quants for the same stock ID are in the same bin or HU. Therefore, we recommend using storage types that allow mixed owners.
You allow mixed owners in the configuration activity Maintain Storage Types.
  • If you select the Consider Next Insp. Date checkbox, the system selects only stock items that have a next inspection date in their batch valuation and only those with a next inspection date earlier than or equal to the current date.
If you specify a number in the Offset in Days field, the next inspection date is compared to the current date + this number (negative numbers are allowed).
  • You can use the fields Best Before Date, Latest Delivery Date, and Consider Next Inspection Date to specify some conditions on the stock items to be changed.
The resulting stock items must meet all these conditions (logical AND). Usually, you use only one of these fields at the same time.
  • If you leave the Exception Code field blank, the system uses a default internal code.
  • For stock items that have the same product and batch, the system creates just one inspection document and the quantity is cumulated.
The quantity in the inspection document indicates the sum of the posted stock items in the base unit of measure.
  • For setup errors, you'll get a Transaction Failed message and no stock attributes are changed.
  • If you're working in dialog mode, the generated list is displayed on the screen and you can customize the list layout using layout variants.

Example

On a daily basis, you want to automatically block stock with an expired shelf life expiration date (SLED). For stock items with an expired SLED, you want to automatically mass create inspection documents and post the stock to a QM stock type. You decide to base the SLED on the best before date. To select the stock items whose SLED expires today, you enter an interval between a date that is far enough in the past (for example, January 1, 1900) and the current date.

You also want to post consignment stock to own stock once the goods receipt date of the consignment stock is 90 days in the past. Therefore, you enter an interval between a date which is far enough in the past (for example, January 1, 1900) and the current date – 90 days.
