Purpose

You can use this report to activate or deactivate usage of SAP liveCache in your system.

If liveCache is activated, it is highly recommended that you also run consistency checks. A default job is available for running consistency checks by selecting the Activate Consistency Jobsoption. If the parameters of this job do not fit your requirements, you can create your own job instead.

Prerequisites

SAP liveCache must be installed (see SAP Note 2407589).

Features

The report offers four selection options for the liveCache status:

  • Manual options
    Chosen by the user, the system cannot change the selection.
  • Automatic options
    Can be changed by the system according to the volume of entries in the liveCache database.

The report has two additional input fields which activate technical jobs with SAP default variants. If the parameters in these default variants do not suit the business requirements, another variant can be created. If you take this approach, you must trigger a job containing the variant you have created and we recommend not scheduling the two default jobs toavoid unexpected system behavior. The default jobs are the folowing:

  • Activate Candidate Search Job
    Identifies material-plant combinations for which a large amount of data is available in tables VBBE or RESB. If the threshold is reached, these material-plant combinations are flagged for liveCache usage.
  • SAP delivers the technical job ATP_LC_SEARCH_FOR_CANDIDATES which executes report ATP_FIND_MATERIALS_4_LIVECACHE with variant SAP&ADD_REMOVE.
  • Activate Consistency Jobs
    These jobs ensure the consistency of the liveCache time series:
  • One job searches for inconsistencies between liveCache and the database that were not detected when they were created. The job logs and repairs these inconsistencies. If this happens regularly, the root cause must be analyzed.

  • The other job repairs inconsistencies detected during other processes, when, for example, material-plant combination (which are flagged for liveCache usage) are excluded from liveCache during an MRP run and flagged as inconsistent or when an update to liveCache fails.

  • SAP delivers the technical jobs ATP_LC_CONSISTENCY_CHECK and ATP_LC_SYNCHRONISATION_JOB which execute report ATP_UPDATE_LIVECACHE_CONTENT with the variants SAP&CHECK_CONS and SAP&SYNC_INCON.
