BC505EX3 - Cause extent overflow in update task

Description

Report BC505EX3 is used for training purposes. Table BC505EX is inserted. The inserts are performed in update task. After a certain number of commits the allocation of a NEXT extent will fail because MAXEXTENTS is reached. The update will stop. Increase MAXEXTENT and then reactivate the update. The program will finish.

Requirements

Run report BC505EX1 as preparation. The table BC505EX will have around 280 extents. Take care that sufficient storage space is available in tablespace PSAPUSER1D (2,5MB) otherwise a tablespace overflow will occur. Use reports BC505TS1 and BC505TS2 for this purpose.

Output

No output, after a short while the allocation of a next extent will fail for table BC505EX. Update will stop.

Example

Run report BC505EX1, then run report BC505EX3. Use transaction SM13 to show deactivated update. Increase MAXEXTENTS for BC505EX and use SM13 to reactivate the update service. BC505EX3 will finish successfully.
