Purpose

This program is a tool of the search engine service. It is a tool for system administrators and is executed in the dialog.

You can use this program to reactivate change pointers that have already been processed.

Example

If you cannot use your search engine due to damaged hardware, you can reactivate all the change pointers since the beginning of the last data backup after you have reloaded this backup. These change pointers will then automatically be considered for the next run of the delta indexing. Then your search engine will have a current status after completion of the next delta indexing.

Integration

For business objects that use the search engine service, a change pointer is generated every time an object is changed. The change pointers in the search engine service therefore represent events. They are the basis for delta indexing. For more information about delta indexing, see the documentation of the indexing program COM_SE_DISPATCHER.

Prerequisites

None.

Features

This program only processes entries in the database table COM_SE_CPOINTER in which the change pointers are stored. The program does not communicate with the search engine or the application from which the business objects in question have come.

The status of the selected change pointers is reset from 2 = Processed to 1 = Initial. This means that the objects in question will be indexed again during the next delta indexing run.

Selection

Specify the date and time from which the change pointers are to be reactivated. The date and time are interpreted as local time by the system in accordance with the time zone specified in your user master record.

If required, you can restrict the program run to a business object and an object type contained in this business object.

Standard Variants

Output

You receive a confirmation of your selection and the number of change pointers reactivated.

Activities

If you want to check the function of this program, you can do so using the data browser (transaction SE16). Start the data browser for the table COM_SE_CPOINTER. Make sure that the date and time are stored as a UTC time stamp in the field Time Stamp. Do not be confused by the output format of the time stamp: Because the time stamp is saved to the database as a normal numerical field, the output is in the form of JJ.JJM.MTT.HHM.MSS instead of the ISO form JJJJ-MM-TT HH:MM:SS.################################## #######################################################################################################################################################################
