Purpose

The mass access layer (MAL) enables accelerated access to mass data of SAP Customer Relationship Management (SAP CRM). To use it, the fields of the business object layer (BOL) must be mapped to the corresponding MAL fields. You can perform this field mapping using BOL-MAL mapping (in design time). At runtime, it forms the basis for accelerated CRM mass data access.

Activities

  1. Start the BOL-MAL mapping using transactionMapping Between BOL and MAL Fields (CRM_MAL_MAP_FRAME).
  2. Under Component, select a component of the generic interaction layer (genIL). You can create and register new BOL paths for the component, or edit BOL paths that are already registered.
  3. If you have selected a component with BOL paths that are already registered, you can use the input help for BOL Path to select one of the registered BOL paths.
In the input help , you can see the following properties, among others, for the BOL paths:
  • Under Scope, SAP indicates the BOL paths delivered as standard, whereas CUS indicates customer-specific BOL paths.

  • Source Object displays the target node of the BOL path.

After this selection, the last node of the path, the target node, is displayed under Leaf Node. The related Attribute Structure contains all BOL fields of the target node, which you can find listed under Field Mapping.
You can search for BOL paths for a specified target node. Select a target node (Leaf Node). Choose the option Filter BOL Path F4 Help on Leaf Node. Then use the input help for BOL Path to search for BOL paths for the specified target node.
If you want to edit the field mapping of a BOL path that has already been registered, choose Display <-> Change to switch to change mode.
  1. If you want to register a new BOL path under the selected component, switch to change mode. Choose New Path.
Put together the new BOL path in the successive hierarchical selection steps.
You require a transport request for the registration.
You can create new BOL paths in the same way for components that do not yet have any registered BOL paths.
