Purpose

You can use this report to assign contact person attributes for the business partner to contact person attributes for customer master records and vice versa, assuming certain prerequisites have been met. These assignments support the bidirectional synchronization of the contact person within customer integration.

You can synchronize the following attributes using this report:

  • Department numbers for contact person
  • Functions of contact person
  • Authority of contact person
  • VIP indicator for contact person
  • Marital statuses

You can run the report once for each attribute pair when you set up the system.

The report transfers the Customizing entries for a source object (either the corresponding contact person attributes for the business partner or the corresponding contact person attributes for the customer master record) to the Customizing for a suitable target object (either the corresponding contact person attributes for the customer master record or the contact person attributes for the business partner) and makes assignments between both objects.

Note that the system does not trigger errors during subsequent business partner or customer processing as a result of missing or incorrect Customizing assignments but that it does not update attributes in the target object.

You can call up the report directly or from the synchronization cockpit.

Integration

You can assign the relevant Customizing settings manually in the following IMG activities:

Note that in addition to the assignment you also have to ensure that you make the corresponding entry in the Customizing for the target object. You can do this by using either the following IMG activities for the customer master records or the corresponding IMG activities for the business partner:

Customer master record Business partner:
Define Standard Departments Define Departments
Define Contact Person Functions Define Functions
Define Authority Define Authority
Define VIP Indicator Define VIP Entries
Create Marital Status Maintain Marital Status

Prerequisites

You have defined either the contact person attribute for the customer master record or the contact person attribute for the business partner in Customizing. This object is your source object. When you carry out an analysis you can examine the attribute pairs individually and determine which attribute (either business partner or customer) is to be your source object.

Before you run the report, ensure that no entries are available in the target object or in the assignment Customizing. If the contact person attribute in question is already set in both objects (business partner and customer) or in the assignment Customizing, assign this attribute manually in the relevant IMG activity.

Features

Selection

You can select how each attribute pair is transferred and how the entries are assigned.

  • If you select the Customer/Vendor-> Partner indicator for the attribute pair then you can transfer the entries for this contact person attribute from the customer master record into the Customizing for the business partner and assign the attributes for both sets of master data.
  • If you select the Partner-> Customer/Vendor indicator for the attribute pair then you can transfer the entries for this contact person attribute from the business partner into the Customizing for the customer master record and assign the attributes for both sets of master data.
Create Marital Status

You can set the indicator for the attribute pair only if entries have been made exclusively for the source object.

Output

Activities

  1. Before you run the report for each object pair individually check whether the prerequisites have been met or whether you have to make Customizing settings manually.
  2. Run the report for the assignment direction indicated for the attribute pair and check the results.

Example

You want to synchronize the contact person attributes for the business partner and the customer in customer integration. When you set up Customer/Vendor Integration you therefore want to make the required Customizing settings for assigning contact person attributes. The report can help you to make the required assignments by automating some of the processes.

You examine each attribute pair individually.

  • You have already defined the standard departments for the customer master data in Customizing for Sales and Distribution. You have ensured that no departments have been defined for the business partner and that there are no assignments between the departments for the customer and those for the business partner. If these prerequisites have been met you can automatically transfer the assignment Customizing for departments by running the report.
  • You have already defined the VIP indicator for the business partner in business partner Customizing. You have ensured that no VIP indicator has been defined for the customer and that there are no assignments between the VIP indicator for the customer and those for the business partner. If these prerequisites have been met you can automatically transfer the assignment Customizing for the VIP indicator by running the report.

Set the Customer/Vendor-> Partner indicator in the Department Numbers section and the Partner-> Customer/Vendor indicator in the VIP Indicator section.

You can run the report once for each attribute pair. The report creates definitions of department numbers for the business partner and the VIP indicator for the customer, and makes assignments between the department numbers and the VIP indicators.
