Purpose

This report can be used to check whether the mapping logic for G/L accounts can be switched from a logic that maps based on company code and chart of accounts to a logic that maps based on chart of accounts only.

The report analyses if the preconditions for this technical switch are met and, if so, can generate a mapping proposal.

If you want to change the G/L account mapping entity from one which has a company code in its mapping context to one which does not, then you can run this report before you activate the new mapping entity to check for errors.

A technical switch is only possible if the current mapping settings allow this simplification of the mapping settings.

Example

The same source G/L account which is set up for company code 1 and company code 2 is mapped to two different G/L accounts for the same company codes in the target system.

For example, in the table below we can see that the combination of account 1000 and chart of accounts COA for COCD1 and COCD2 maps to 1001 and 1002 respectively. This mapping setting is incorrect, and the report will mark this as an error.

The combination of account 1004 and chart of accounts COA for source company codes COCD1 and COCD2 maps to the same target account 1005 in the target system which is correct, therefore no error will be found.

Source GL Account Source Chart of Accounts Source Company Code Target GL Account Target Chart of Accounts Target Company Code
1000 COA COCD1 1001 COA COCD1
1000 COA COCD2 1002 COA COCD2
1004 COA COCD1 1005 COA COCD1
1004 COA COCD2 1005 COA COCD2

If there are no mapping issues the report generates a mapping proposal file.

Integration

Prerequisites

The user has read access authorization for the relevant company codes.

The relevant RFC connection and the assignment of the logical system to the RFC destination must be maintained for the RFC usage Document Splitting in the Customizing activity Set Up RFC Destination for Source Systems.

Features

  • When you use the report for the first time, you must select the Generate Mapping Proposaloption in the report. This will help you see if there are any mapping issues. If there are, a list of error messages will be displayed which you should correct. If there are no errors, the report generates an intermediate mapping proposal file which you can later use as a reference mapping template to upload. How this mapping proposal is saved is determined by the user action. If you select the option Simulation, the file will not be saved to the database. If you uncheck the option Simulation, then you enter a file name with which the mapping proposal is stored in the database.
  • You can also use this report to download the mapping proposals which were generated when there were no mapping errors. You can do this using the Download Mapping Proposal option.

Selection

  • Generate Mapping Proposal: If this option is selected the report will analyze the mapping between the source and target account.
  • Simulation: If the Generate Mapping Proposaloption is selected and Simulationis selected, the report will check if there are any mapping errors, if there are no mapping errors then in this case the mapping proposals will not be stored.
The mapping proposals will only be stored if the option Simulationis not selected.
  • Download Mapping Proposal: With this option you can download the already saved mapping proposal.
  • Mapping Proposal Name: If you choose Generate Mapping Proposal you have to specify a filename for the mapping proposal. If there are no errors, the mapping proposals are saved in the database with this file name. If you choose Download Mapping Proposal you can choose the file with the relevant Mapping Proposal Name.
  • File Location: You must specify the location of the file to which the mapping proposal should be saved.

Standard Variants

There are no standard variants.

Output

If you choose the Generate Mapping Proposal option you get the following output:

  • If the report finds any errors, a list of error messages is displayed.
  • If the report encounters no errors and you have not chosen Simulation Run, you see a success message informing you that the file has been saved successfully.
  • If the report does not find any errors and you have chosen Simulation Run, you see a message informing you that no mapping inconsistencies have been found.
  • If the report is run as a background job and there are no errors, you will see a success message informing you that the file has been saved successfully in the JOB LOG.
  • If the report is run as a background job and there are errors, you will see a list of error messages in the SPOOL.
  • To access the results of the background job, you can go to transaction SM37 and access the job here.

If you select the option Download Mapping, you can access the file from the file location that you specified when you executed the report. Once the mapping proposal has been generated successfully, the mapping proposal name is deleted from system storage or database. You can only generate the CSV File once.
