Use

This report shows the debit balance, the credit balance, and the total balance for selected cost elements in both a source system and the Central Financesystem, for a specified fiscal year or posting period.

You execute this report in the Central Finance system for the purpose of checking whether the debit or credit totals for cost elements used in secondary postings are identical in both the source system and the Central Finance system. You can choose whether you want to compare balances in controlling area currency or in transaction currency. Both currencies and the respective amounts are displayed in the results screen, and the currency that you chose is highlighted. If the controlling area currencies in the source system and the Central Finance system differ, you can use the transaction currency to compare the balances.

The report compares the debit and credit amounts for selected cost elements in a selected period. It displays the following information for each cost element and month:

  • Debit amount
  • Credit amount
  • Amount balance

If the amounts in the source system do not match those in the Central Finance system, the entries with differences are highlighted.

Integration

We recommend that you first use the Central Finance: Comparison of CO Document Headers report to determine whether all documents from the source system have been transferred correctly.

If the number of controlling (CO) documents posted in your source system differs from the number posted in the Central Finance system, please correct the errors first before you use this report to compare debit and credit totals for each cost element.

Prerequisites

  • You have authorization for the transaction FINS_CFIN_DFV_CO_BAL.
  • You have display authorization for the controlling area and for the CO business transaction in the source system for which you want to run the report (authorization object K_VRGNG).

Features

The main purpose of this report is to check whether a debit or credit total for each cost element has been posted in the Central Financesystem for each corresponding amount in the source system.

The report determines the totals from CO internal postings (table COSS for the source system). For the Central Financesystem, table ACDOCA is used. For the Central Finance system, the report reads the RACCT_SENDER field in the ACDOCA table to determine the totals. If this field is empty, then the report reads the mapping of cost elements to determine the totals. If no mapping exists for the cost elements, the original cost element number is used to derive the debit and credit amounts.

It is easier to compare the amounts when the controlling area currencies are identical in both the source system and the Central Finance system and when these currencies have not been mapped.

Selection

Before running the report, you specify the data that you want to display by entering the source system and other criteria, such as the controlling area.

  • You can choose whether you want to compare the balances in controlling area currency or in transaction currency. The controlling area currency from the source system corresponds to the global currency in the Central Finance system.
  • You can also choose to display only the totals for cost elements that do not match. In this case, you set the Shows Errors Only indicator. If you don’t set this option, you can decide whether you also want to see the rows with zero balances by setting the Accounts with Zero Balance indicator.

Note

The report works best when you restrict the selection as much as possible.

Standard Variants

Output

The report lists the debit and credit totals for each cost element for the selected period. The following issues might occur, in which case they are displayed in the results screen:

Issue Explanation
Different totals This issue occurs when, for example, not all controlling documents have been transferred to the Central Finance system.
Debit or credit amounts differ The balances in the source system and the Central Finance system add up, but the debit or credit amounts differ.

If you tick the Show Errors Only checkbox on the selection screen and perform the report, then it shows the output for CO balances that are not having the same amounts in the source system and the Central Finance system. That is, the amounts do not match in the systems. For example, you run the report for the transaction currency and have Show Errors Only ticked, then it will show the CO balances which have not the same amounts in transaction currency in both, the systems.
