General description

The wage type distribution displays lists of wage types based on the settlement data for the persons selected. The evaluation indicates the (number and amount) values currently assigned to the wage types. To do this, the data from results tables RT from the relevant payroll results can be used for the wage type distribution. The employee's organizational assignment is also evaluated using the payroll results. The system uses the work center data (table WPBP) for this purpose.

The wage type distribution can be evaluated in the following two ways:
- Individual evaluation per personnel number or name
- Overall evaluation without displaying personnel numbers and names

For a description of the evaluation types, see the notes on the parameter "Evaluation type" below.

The evaluation can be sorted by organizational assignment or employee name (see "Sort sequence" pushbutton).

The evaluation is limited to one country. Personnel numbers assigned to different countries are listed afterwards in the error log.

Selection criteria and parameters

The parameters comprise those for the database and the specific parameters for controlling the wage type distribution. You may use all database parameters except for "Sort: Field names". This parameter is replaced in the wage type distribution by the "Sort sequence" pushbutton. At this point we assume that the user is already acquainted with the use of database parameters.

Parameter "Date identifier"

This parameter determines which date according to each payroll period is taken from table 549S.

Parameter "Wage type to be evaluated"

In this field, enter all wage types for which you want to carry out an evaluation. If you do not specify a wage type, the system selects them all. Please note that it is only possible to select wage types which are listed in tables RT.

Parameter "Sort sequence"

This parameter determines the sequence in which the data is printed. You can control output by means of the following sort criteria:

- Company code
- Personnel area (previously plant)
- Personnel subarea (previously plant section)
- Cost center
- Employee group (previously person group)
- Employee subgroup (previously person subgroup)
- Organizational unit

The values for the sort criteria are taken from the work center data for the payroll results (table WPBP).

Parameter "Sort names"

When an individual evaluation is performed, the employee names are printed out, sorted in ascending order by personnel number. If you flag this parameter, output is sorted by surname.

Parameter "Evaluation type"

There are two possible evaluation types:

- (E) Individual evaluation
- (S) Total evaluation

An individual evaluation prints the number and amount for each wage type by employee name. The total evaluation only prints out the selected wage types for all personnel numbers specified. Total evaluation is therefore a summarized form of individual evaluation, which does not involve printing out personnel numbers and names.

Parameter "Output control"

This parameter can be used to modify standard output after changing the sort criteria. The following options are possible:

- Total after a change of wage type
- Total after a change of personnel number
- New page per wage type
- Show compressed values of respective accounting period

By entering a cross you activate the according function.

Error notes and search for causes

If you find values in the evaluation which may be incorrect, please check your payroll results first of all, looking for a personnel number and wage type where the incorrect result occurs. In the payroll results, check the amount assigned to the wage type in the results table (RT), and check if there is a split in the work center data (table WPBP).

The following notes should be of help in locating and solving errors.

Note: Parameter "Sort: Field names" not supported

You have attempted to use the database parameter "Sort: Field names". The wage type distribution uses the parameter "Sort sequence" instead. Please use this one.

Note: Different period modifiers

You cannot carry out evaluations for more than one country or period modifier in the wage type distribution. Please select payroll subunits from one country per evaluation.

Technical notes

Programs and INCLUDEs

The wage type distribution uses the following programs and INCLUDEs:

- RPCLGV09 Start wage type distribution, selection screen
- RPCLGA19 Read routines
- RPCLGA29 Task routines

- PCLGAQA3 Main Routines
- RPCLGAx0 Read program for database PCL2 (payroll cluster)

The read program for database PCL2 varies for each country version. Program RPCLGAU0 is used for the USA, RPCLGAK0 for Canada and so on.

The wage type distribution writes the read payroll results (tables RT and table WPBP) to a sequential dataset. This is saved as an extract. The storage requirement can be deduced from the following formula:

Storage in bytes = Number of personnel numbers *
Number of wage types *
Number of read payroll results *
Record length (approx. 100 bytes)

Example: The wage type distribution is to be started for 3000 employees
over 3 periods. Around 500 wage types per employee are
accumulated. The resulting storage requirement for the extract
is approximately 450 megabytes (3000 * 500 * 3 * 100).

If you have problems with storage capacity, extend the roll area in the profile.
