Purpose

Maintain the Islamic calendars in the SAP system. For background information on the Islamic calendar support in SAP systems, please refer to SAP note 882610.

Required authorization for modifications of the calendar: authorization object "S_ADMI_FCD", field "SCP1".

Features

Selecting the date format and the time range for customization

On the selection screen, you can select the date format and the range of years you want to maintain.

You can maintain two different Islamic calendars, "Islamic date 1" and "Islamic date 2". The two corresponding date formats are 'A' and 'B'. You can set the date format per user in transaction SU01.

It is recommendable to select one year prior to and one year past the range you actually want to maintain (see section "Note on the consistency check" below).

Customizing the mapping information

On the next screen, you can customize the selected Islamic calendar. The database table TISLCAL contains the mapping information between the Islamic and Gregorian calendars. The beginning date of each Islamic month ("Islamic Date" column) is defined by its corresponding Gregorian date ("Gregorian Date" column) in the table. As a default, the "Gregorian Date (default)" column contains date information which is calculated from a formula, the "Islamic Tabular Calendar".

  1. Select a row you want to modify and press "Edit entry".
  2. In "Edit entry" window, type the date in the "Gregorian Date (YYYYMMDD)" field.
  3. Press "Continue".
  4. Repeat step 1 - 3 for all entries you want to maintain.
  5. Press "Check consistency" to check the consistency of the newly entered dates with other rows.
  6. Press "Save to database". This will open a dialog window for a correction request.

Exporting and importing the mapping information

  1. Press "Export" to export the currently visible data into an xml file. The data will be stored without date format so that it can be imported into date format A or B.
  2. Press "Import" to import the data from an xml file into the current date format. If the imported data contains customization outside the currently visible time range, the time range will be adjusted to show the imported customization completely.

Removing the customized mapping information

  1. Select one or more rows which contain customized information you want to remove.
  2. Press "Remove customization".
  3. Press "Check consistency" to check the consistency of the changed dates with other rows.
  4. Press "Save to database". This will open a dialog window for a correction request.

Note on the consistency check

All Islamic months must have a length of either 29 or 30 days. The length is indicated in the column "Days". The consistency check checks the length of each month after the customization and asks you to adjust the customization if necessary. It may be necessary to adjust one or even two months prior to or past the customized range in order to avoid the definition of a month of 28 or 31 days.

For the same reason it is recommendable that on the first screen you select one year prior to and one year past the range you actually want to maintain. Otherwise it may happen that the consistency check points to a month that is outside of the visible range.
