Purpose

This report deletes sessions and their documents, download data and reporting documents of a solution or landscape which was created or changed in the SAP Solution Manager.

Integration

You can call it in transaction DSWP or SOLUTION_MANAGER, in dialog in transaction SE38, or schedule it as a job variant in SM36.

Prerequisites

SAP Solution Manager ST400 with Support Package SP19. If you have SP18, you can import the report with notes no. 1284278 and 1271923.

Features

This report deletes sessions and their documents, download data and reporting documents of a solution or landscape which was created or changed in the SAP Solution Manager, in dialog or in a job. Checks are made during deletion for inconsistencies within the sessions and documents to be deleted. If so, deletion in transaction DSWP is cancelled, with a message. In SE38, you can confirm the checks in a dialog box, and continue or cancel, or specify in the selection that the checks are not to be displayed, and the deletion performed. You can also specify after how many sessions or documents a "COMMIT WORK" (persistent write to database) is to be performed (in transaction DSWP, this number is zero, so that at most one COMMIT is performed, at the end of the deletion). All already logically deleted sessions, documents and reports are deleted permanently. This number is indirectly proportional to performance, the lower the number, the more COMMITs are performed and the worse the performance.

Selection

Solutions:

You can select solutions from the F4 help, either all solutions, or by system or installation numbers (in the F4 help).

Deletion criteria:

You can select session type ("EarlyWatch Alert", "EarlyWatch Alert for Solutions", "Service Level Reporting", "Other Sessions (except SETUP sessions)"), a bundle ID or a session no. or reporting document no.

Deletion contents:

You can select sessions (with documents and download data or only the components) and/or reporting documents for deletion. You can specify whether archived sessions and (reporting) documents are to be deleted.

Deletion period:

Select a period (from/to) or a number of days for which the sessions and documents are to be retained.

Technical details and deletion without confirmation:

You can specify after how many sessions, documents and reporting documents a "COMMIT" is to be performed, whether the solutions and messages are to be displayed in dialog, and whether the sessions are to be deleted despite any inconsistencies. These last two selection criteria are required to control the flow of background jobs.

Standard Variants

For a job, you must save a selection as a variant, and schedule the report with this variant in SE36. You can specify the number of days for which the session and (report) documents are to be retained. Example: 365 means retain for a year . You can then schedule the job regularly.

Example :

Solutions: -> "All"

Deletion criterion: -> "Session types" -> "EarlyWatch Alert" and "EarlyWatch Alert for Solutions" and "Service Level Reporting" and "Other Sessions (except SETUP sessions)"

Deletion contents: -> "Sessions" and "Reporting Documents" and "Delete Archive as well"

Deletion period: -> Retain sessions for "365" days

Technical Details: -> COMMIT after "50" sessions/documents

Delete without confirmation: -> "Do not display selected sessions" and "Delete sessions despite any inconsistencies"

Output

The Application Log (transaction SLG1) and the Job Log (transaction SM37) display error and system messages, including success messages.
