Purpose

Create Optimized Intervals for Parallel Processing Object INSTALLATION

Integration

You can create optimized intervals for the transaction Mass Activity: Execute Data Exchange Tasks.

This transaction uses the parallel processing object INSTALLATION to create intervals.

The mass framework provides with you with a standardized option for creating optimized intervals (interval size or number of intervals) for installations. If the intervals created are not distributed or are not distributed equally (for example if new installations are added meaning that the final interval becomes increasingly large), you can use this function to manually change closed intervals.

Since data exchange tasks do not read installations, but simply read the points of delivery for the installations, distributing intervals equally can lead to uneven distribution of points of delivery in the intervals for certain data exchange processes.

Using this function means that the report reads the data exchange table using specific parameters, determines the relevant points of delivery or installations and uses this information to create optimized intervals.

Since closed intervals are involved, this ensures that the system always observes all installations, even for example if a new installation is involved.

You start this function on the initial screen for the transaction Mass Activity: Execute Data Exchange Tasks (EDATEXEXECUTEFELD) using the menu entry Environment→ Optimized Intervals.

Prerequisites

This report can be started from the mass activity using the menu entry Environment→ Optimized Intervals or can be started as an independent report. It creates a variant with optimally distributed intervals before the mass activity is run for the first time. You can also use this to avoid having to manually modify intervals if interval creation is subsequently affected by master data changes and the number of data exchange tasks to be sent is no longer distributed appropriately between the intervals. You can also use the report to create optimized intervals for various parameter constellations and subsequent separate program runs.

Since the import parameters for this report can mean that is does not read the entire data exchange tasks table in a non-parallel mode, it is not suitable to always be run before the actual program run Mass Activity: Execute Data Exchange Tasks. It is only intended to be used when intervals are created for the first time or if it is necessary to create intervals again Note therefore that if you have large data volumes, this can lead to a lengthy runtime.

Features

Selection

In addition to the selection options Interval Size/Number of Intervals available in the standard system, you can also use the following parameters to execute data exchange tasks.

Data exchange process

Third party service provider

Own service provider

Due date

Define the due date so that it covers a representative period as far as possible. Note however, that the report runtime is dependent on the length of the period selected.

Standard Variants

Output

The system displays a message saying how many intervals have been created. You can also display and change the interval in the framework under Variant Maintenance.
