Purpose

This report enables you to translate language-dependent texts and all existing subtypes of the Object infotype (1000) and Description infotype (1002). Provided that the texts have been translated, they are displayed automatically in the appropriate logon language.

Features

On the output list screen, you can translate language-dependent texts into one or more languages and edit or delete the existing translations.

Selection

On the selection screen, you can select the objects for which you want to translate infotype records for the infotypes 1000 and 1002.

You must also set up the following parameters:

  • Under Source Language, the language in which you logged onto the system is displayed. You can overwrite this language.
  • Under Target Language(s), you must specify the language or languages into which you want to translate the language-dependent texts.

Output

After you have run the report, a screen is displayed on which the texts to be translated or which have already been translated are listed:

  • For each language-dependent record of infotypes 1000 and 1002, a line that is not ready for input displays the existing source language texts.
  • For each language-dependent record of infotype 1000, fields that are ready for input are displayed in the Abbreviation and Object ID columns for each target language. In these fields, you can translate the source text or edit existing translations.
  • For each language-dependent record of infotype 1002, a field that is ready for input is displayed in the Text column and a change icon in the Text Maintenance column for each target language.
The field in the text column contains the first line of the source language text or the translated target language text. When you click on this line, the text editor is displayed automatically. You can also access this editor by clicking on the icon in the Text Maintenance column. In this editor, you can translate the source text or edit the existing translation and then save your changes.
  • To delete translated lines, select one or more lines in the list and choose Delete.
Note:
For information about the display options on the list screen, see Help in the SAP Library under Getting Started -> Working with the SAP GUI -> Lists -> SAP List Viewer (ALV) Grid Control (BC-SRV-ALV).

Activities

  1. Enter the data required for object selection, selection period, and structure parameters.
  2. Specify the source and target language(s).
  3. Choose Execute.
  4. Make the necessary changes: translate the texts into the target languages and edit existing translation.
  5. Choose Save.
Note:
If not translated, the infotype texts are displayed automatically in the source language even if the source language differs from the logon language.
