Purpose

You can use this function to perform top-down distributions in the following cases:

  • You want to schedule multiple variants as jobs in succession (job chains) or in parallel.
  • You want to cancel individual periods.
  • You want to schedule and adjust top-down distributions (such as periods) in the Schedule Manager or Closing Cockpit.

Integration

Prerequisites

You have created a variant in the transaction for basic execution of top-down distribution (KE28).

Features

The distribution run is executed with the settings defined in the selected KE28 variant and with the parameters that you specify (overwrite) here.

The distribution run is always executed as a background job, even if the Background Processing indicator is not set in the KE28 variant.

You can save the selected settings as a variant (KE28A variant).

Note:

Note the distinction between the two variants:

  • KE28 variant: Defined in transaction KE28 and can only be used there and in this transaction.
  • KE28A variant: Defined in this transaction and contains settings from the KE28 variant. You can also schedule this variant as a job or use it in the Schedule Manager or Closing Cockpit.

You can call the monitor for the Schedule Manager directly. All distribution runs started from KE28A are then displayed there.

Activities

  1. Enter a variant that you created in the transaction for basic execution of top-down distribution (KE28).
If you want to execute multiple variants, use the multiple selection function to specify all variants and select the job control under Process Control:

  • If you schedule the distribution run as a job or want to use it in the Schedule Manager or Closing Cockpit, decide whether all the KE28 variants in the KE28A variant need to be successfully executed first before a successor job or the next task is started in the Schedule Manager or Closing Cockpit. To do this, set the Await End of All Jobs indicator.

  1. Choose an Execution Type and the period parameters.
  2. Configure the required settings in Process Control.
Using the Technical Settings, you can call transaction KE28T in a dialog window. Here, you can configure variant-independent settings that also affect the basic top-down distribution (KE28).
  1. Execute the program.
