Description

You can use this program to count stock in storage bins in the warehouse. It supports hand-held devices. The transaction consists of two screens. The first screen displays location, material and an entry field for the quantity. The second screen is a detail screen with additional information.

The system simplifies the process by showing the detail screen only

  • When requested
  • When the material ID alone is not sufficient to uniquely specify the quant, or
  • When the bookkeeping quantity differs from the quantity of the standard pallet (1st palletization quantity in the material master

The report is part of the RF ability project in the system and can be accessed via Menu transaction LM01 Inventory -> Bin Count or Bin Count guided.

System-guided Bin Count

The Bin Count Guided transaction searches for active inventory documents that have not yet been (completely) counted that have been assigned to the name of the current user. It then leads the user to the first bin location for which the entry of count results are required. The bin location must be verified by scanning a barcode or by entering a valid verification value for the corresponding bin.

The system only proposes the next bin if the stock in a bin has been fully counted.

Bin Count

The Bin Count transaction allows users to specify a specific bin location (that needs to be counted) which is not in the sequence listed in the inventory document. Nonetheless, the system still requires the counting of active inventory documents as well. After checking the warehouse number, storage type and bin location you can enter count results into the system.

There is a set/get-parameter ID active for the warehouse number and the storage type so that after you have made the first entry, you only need to enter the bin location when you choose a bin. Since you can use the barcoded bin location, this simplifies the entry of this data.

Using the Transactions

Once you enter the data, you may save it or view the details by choosing DETAIL. You can enter or change detail data. If you find an unlisted material in the bin, you can add it in the detail screen. After entry, the system checks the data for consistency. You can only save the data if the consistency check is successful.

Requirements

For storage types managed for storage units, also see the online documentation for program RLMOB003.

For this function, you create and activate inventory documents in the system in the usual manner.

For the system-guided option, you need to assign users to the inventory documents before you activate them.

The system-guided variant requires the entry of a verification field for the bin location. You maintain the verification field in the bin master record. This is supported by the report RLVERIFY that allows you to fill the field. For this, there are three options. You can use

  • The storage bin coordinates
  • Part of the storage bin coordinates
  • A customer exit

Output

In case of errors, a message appears. You can change missing or incorrect data. If there are no errors, the system updates the inventory counting results in the database and displays a corresponding message.

The SAP standard confirmation dialog box which normally appears has been deactivated for this function. Therefore, you should choose BACK with caution. Choosing BACK causes the system to leave the current transaction and the entered data will be lost without warning.
