Description

This report searches for similar patients in the SAP Patient Management (IS-H) database for patient master records that were created or changed during the evaluation period using the specified comparison criteria.

A patient for whom similar patients are found in the evaluation period is known as the “reference patient” in the following documentation.

For more information about the comparison criteria, see the field documentation for the fields in the group Comparison Criteria.

You can specify whether the list is to include the similar patients. For more information, see the field documentation for the field Show Similar Patients.

You can use the Duplicate Management pushbutton to mark two patients as "Not Duplicates" or change an existing setting. Patients who are marked as "Not Duplicates" can no longer be merged. This function is only available if you have activated duplicate management in the Customizing activity Set Client-Specific Control Parameters.

Selection

  • You can leave the Institution field blank.
In this case, the identification key of the institution is displayed alongside the patient number in the list.
However, you cannot merge patients in different institutions.
  • You must specify the evaluation period.
The start and end dates must not be in the future. If you do not enter an end date, the system copies the start date to this field.
  • You must select at least one comparison criterion.
For more information, see the field documentation for the fields in the group Comparison Criteria.
  • Instead of displaying the similar patients, you can also display all the patients who are marked as "Not Duplicates". When doing this, the system does not take the specified comparison criteria into account, but instead the institution and evaluation period. The evaluation period covers the patient master records that were created or changed during this interval. This function is only available if you have activated duplicate management in the Customizing activity Set Client-Specific Control Parameters.

Output

The list generated contains the following information about both the reference patient and the similar patient master records found:

  • Time at which the patient master record was entered or changed
  • Patient number (with check digit, if applicable)
  • Institution (if the institution was not specified as a selection criterion)
  • Patient name
  • Patient's birth name
  • Date of birth of patient
  • Patient's sex
  • Address from patient master record

If you activate duplicate management in the Customizing activity Set Client-Specific Control Parameters, the following additional information is included in the list:

  • Patient's telephone number
  • Indicator "Patient Has Multiple Telephone Numbers"
  • Indicator "Patient Is Deceased"
  • Name of first next of kin
  • Relationship to first next of kin
  • Telephone number of first next of kin
  • Indicator "Patient Has Multiple Next of Kin"

The following additional data is displayed on the second level of the hierarchy in the "Not Duplicates" list:

  • Reason for "Not Duplicate"
  • Comment for "Not Duplicate"

If you do not select Show Similar Patients on the selection screen or choose List -> Hide Similar Patients from the resulting list, the following functions are available:

  • Display list of similar patients
If you choose this function, the system generates the list again.
  • If you choose Refresh, the system reads the list from the database again.
  • If you inadvertently selected several patients, you can cancel all selections by choosing Deselect All.
  • List of merges already performed for the selected patient
If you select a row and choose Goto -> Merges for Patient, the system displays all the previous merges involving the selected patient.
  • List of merges already performed in the institution
If you select a row and choose Goto -> Merges in Institution, you can display all the merges performed in an institution during a specific evaluation period.
For more information about merges performed, see the documentation for report RNLJOIN0.
The checkbox you mark to select a patient is not deselected when you return to the list, thus enabling you to proceed with merging, if required.
  • If you choose Goto -> Patient Information, the system displays a dialog box containing further information for the current patient.
You can also access this function by double clicking on the patient record.

If you select Show Similar Patients on the selection screen or choose List -> Show Similar Patients in the previous list, the following additional functions are available:

  • Access patient merging
Several patient merging options are available:

  • When merging patients in the standard order, the similar patient master record is transferred to the reference patient's master record.

  • When merging patients in inverse order, the reference patient is transferred to the similar patient master record.

The selections are deleted when you return to the list.
If you choose Refresh, the system removes the merged records from the list.

  • Patient information extended by comparison
The Patient Information function also allows you to compare the master data of the reference patient with that of the selected similar master record from the list displaying similar patients.
To do this, select the checkbox for a patient master record in the list and choose Goto -> Patient Information.
The system does not delete your selections when you return to the list, thus enabling you to proceed with merging the two records, if required.
