,,Purpose

You can use this report to execute a process for test purposes without a Portal environment or form application; in this way, you can test the backend functions. The report simulates the Portal and form environment and replaces these by simply displaying a list of the form fields. The behavior differs from the display in the Portal with regard to the following:

  • The system displays all configured form fields. This includes the fields that normally do not appear on the form.
  • The system displays all form fields as ready for input. This also includes the fields that do not appear on the form at all or only appear for display purposes.

The system displays the same functions in the toolbar that are also available in a Portal and form environment.

You can use the report to either start a new process or continue with the current process step of a process that has already been started.

Unlike in the Portal environment, you can also use the report to execute all steps of a process one after another. When a step is completed, the report searches independently for the work item created for the next processing step and executes it. In other words, you can execute the entire process just by logging on to the system. The prerequisite for this, however, is that your user has sufficient authorization to execute all process steps.

Caution

The report only simulates the UI environment (Portal, form, and so on). The process itself is not simulated; it is really executed. Therefore, use this report in your test system only and not in the production system.

Integration

Prerequisites

You have configured a process completely in Customizing for HR Administrative Services under Configuration of Forms/Processes. In other words, the process, the workflow, and also the ISR scenario and form scenario are completely set up.

Features

Selection

You can either start a new process or continue with an existing process.

To start a new process, the following selection parameters are available:

  • Application
Select Personnel Administration or Personnel Development as the application.
  • Process
Enter the name of the process.
  • Personnel Number
This field is available only if Personnel Administration is selected as application type.
Enter the personnel number of the employee for whom the process is to be started. If this process is for a new hire, you must leave this field empty.
You can also leave this field empty if you want to start a process without a personnel number.
  • Role of Initiator
Choose F4 help for a list of possible initiator roles.

To continue with an existing process, the following selection parameters are available:

  • Process Reference Number
Enter the reference number of the process. The system automatically searches for the next process step to be executed. If the process has parallel branches, it is possible that several steps can be simultaneously available for execution. In this case, the steps are processed one after another in a random order. If this is the case, it is more convenient to identify the next process step using the ID of the work item.
  • Work Item ID
Enter the work item ID of the process step that you want to execute. You should not use the process reference number and the work item ID at the same time. If this is the case, the work item ID has precedence.

The following fields are available only if Personnel Development is selected as application type:

  • Object Type
Choose F4 help for a list of possible object types. You can choose from Job, Position, or Organizational Unit.
  • Object Key
A unique numerical code that represents an individual job, position, or organizational unit.

Standard Variants

Output

Activities

Execute the report. The system displays the contents of the form fields in the form of a list that is ready for input. You can change the values of the form fields or execute the required functions using the toolbar (for example, Review, Send, Approve, Reject, and so on).

Check to see if there are any errors. You must solve any errors before moving onto the next dialog step. Alternatively, you can choose the Continue or Forward to Expert buttons, if available, to proceed to the next step without solving the errors.

If value helps exist for the fields, the system displays them. Functions for adding, displaying, and deleting attachments are also provided.

Once you complete the dialog step, the system searches for the next dialog step (work item) triggered by the workflow and provides it for processing.

Choose Save Draft to save a draft version of the process.

If you have started the process without a start object, you can use the Assign Object button to assign this at a later stage in the process.

Note

If the system cannot automatically find a work item that is created during a dialog step, you must check the corresponding workflow environment and use the work item ID that you find there to start the report again.
