USE THE HR PROCESS WORKBENCH (transactions PUST / PEST )

***

This program starts parallel runs of evaluation programs from the payroll environment, in particular report RPCEDTx0, which is the evaluation program for creating the statement of earnings.

'Parallel' in this sense means that several jobs are created. Each job contains a certain number of personnel numbers. This number must be specified on the selection screen. This is done either by entering the number of personnel numbers per job, or simply the number of jobs.

This type of parallel processing can only start the evaluation program via a variant defined in the evaluation program.

Parallel processing selects the personnel numbers from the database according to the variant of the target program and then creates consecutive groups containing the relevant amount of personnel numbers. The evaluation program is then started for each of these groups in turn. Each start constitutes a job. Each of the jobs created in this way is transferred to background processing.

You may assign a short title to each of the jobs created. This is very helpful when displaying the jobs in the general job overview. These short titles for jobs that may be defined on the selection screen are assigned a consecutive number for each job.

A job can be released as soon as it has been assigned the specified amount of personnel numbers. It is also possible to distribute all the personnel numbers to the individual jobs first and then release all the jobs at once.

This parallel processing does not support the sort function of the logical database PNP. This means that sorting defined in the variant of the evaluation program might not be performed correctly.

PRCSC000 is a program specially designed for parallel processing of payroll.

Requirements

The evaluation program must satisfy certain conditions before this type of parallel processing can be started:

  • A suitable variant must be defined in the evaluation program
  • The evaluation program must use the logical database PNP
  • The evaluation program must not be a payroll program

Output

An output log is created, which lists each individual step within the program, including the date and time.

In the event of an error, the log contains an error message or warnings as applicable. Both are highlighted in color.

An overview of background jobs created is also output. The job numbers and names specified in the job overview will help you to uniquely identify each job (transaction SM37).
