Purpose

You use this report to perform initial transfer of role templates from an external file on the presentation server to the Portfolio Management system.

Integration

This program is delivered as part of the data transfer tool (transaction RPM_DX). Standard pre-delivered configuration is maintained in the table view V_RPM_DX_APPL. For further information, see the SAP Portfolio and Project Management Implementation Guide (IMG) or Core Installation and Configuration Guide.

Prerequisites

  • All related project templates to which role templates are to be imported must already exist in the system. Initial import of project templates can be performed using the standard Upload Project Templates program.
  • The external file must be prepared in one of the supported file formats described in the Selection section. Each record must follow the pre-delivered data transfer structure RPM_TS_DX_ROLE_API. Addtional custom fields can be added to this structure via the customer include structure CI_RPM_TS_DX_ROLE_API.

Selection

File Selection

  • File Name - Enter the name of the external file including the file path on the presentation server containing data to be transferred.
  • File Type - Specify the type of the external file.
The following file types are supported:
  • ASC - TAB delimited ASCII text file

  • XLS - Microsoft Excel file

  • No. Header Rows to Be Ignored - Enter the number of header records in the external file to be ignored from the data transfer. The default value is zero record.

Maintenance Selection

  • Create - Select this option to create a new object.
  • Change - Select this option to change an existing object.
  • Delete - Select this option to delete an existing object.

Additional Selection

  • Test Run (No Database Update) - Select this option to perform a simulation run without any actual updates to the databases.

Output

The report output displays records, which are transferred to the Portfolio Management system, in ABAP List Viewer (ALV) format.

Activities

  1. Prepare and save the source file data on the presentation server.
  2. Start transaction RPM_DX.
  3. On the Application field, choose the Import Role Templates data transfer application.
  4. On the File Name field, enter the complete file name including the file path.
  5. On the File Type field, specify the source data file type (ASC or XLS).
  6. On the No. Header Rows to Be Ignored field, enter the number of header records to be ignored from the data transfer.
  7. Choose one of the maintenance modes (Create, Change, or Delete).
  8. Specify the execution mode (Testor Productive). Test is the default value.
  9. Choose Execute to start the data transfer.
