Purpose

From April 6, 2015, employers will not be required to pay Class 1 secondary NICs on earnings up to a new Upper Secondary Threshold (UST) for employees who are under the age of 21. Class 1 secondary NICs will however continue to be payable on all earnings above the UST.

You use this report to assess the number of employees under the age of 21 at April 6, 2015. This is a one-off report that delimits the existing National Ins. GB (0069) infotype record with the old NI category and creates a new record as of April 6, 2015 with the corresponding new under 21 NI category.

Only employees who are under 21 on or before the first pay day of the tax year 2015/16 are processed by this report. The first pay day of the tax year is determined as the first pay day on or after April 6, 2015.

An employee's age is derived using the Birth Date maintained in the Personal Data (0002) infotype.

Note

  • The report can be processed only up to the first pay day of the tax year 2015/16 which is on or after April 6, 2015. When processed after this date, the report will not return any results.
  • If the report is processed more than once for the same period, it does not process the record.
  • If, prior to this report being run, there already exists a National Ins. GB (0069) infotype record with the Start Date of April 6, 2015, then the report will update the existing record with the new NI Category.
  • The report will return an error if the employee does not have a Personal Data (0002) infotype record or if the National Ins. GB (0069) infotype cannot be locked.
  • If an employee has no National Ins.GB (0069) infotype record, then the employee is not processed by this report.

You must make an entry in the following fields:

  • Personnel Number
  • Personnel area
  • Personnel subarea
  • Payroll area

Select the Test Mode checkbox to run this report in test mode without saving the results to the database (archive).

Standard Variants

Output

The statistics returned by the report will only include the number of employees selected for processing, rejected and successful.

Test Mode

In test mode, the report displays the following information:

  • Number of employees SELECTED - The number of employees who are under the age of 21 as of the first pay day after April 6, 2015.
  • Number of employees SUCCESSFUL - The number of employees for whom the National Ins. GB (0069) infotype record needs to be updated.
  • Number of employees REJECTED - The number of employees for whom there does not exist an Personal Data (0002) infotype.

Live Mode

In live mode, the report updates the National Ins. GB (0069) infotype record for relevant employees (as detailed in Number of employees SUCCESSFUL).

The report displays the same information as in test mode, as well as the following additional information:

  • Number of employees with 0069 update errors - The number of employees for whom the update of the National Ins. GB(0069) infotype record failed because the infotype could not be locked.
