Purpose

You use this report to prepopulate the Object and Data Provider (OADP) buffer used by the Manager Self-Service (MSS) application. Typically, you run this report for managers, especially senior managers, in organizations where there are large number of objects such as employees or organization or position. You can set up a periodic batch job for this report.

Features

  • You can select managers for whom the OADP buffer must be updated.
  • The OADP buffer is updated for only those managers who have more objects than the threshold. To update the buffer for all managers, set the threshold value to 0.
  • If you run the report with manager authorization, the report creates batch jobs for individual managers and the batch jobs run with individual manager authorization.
  • If you do not want the system to create multiple jobs, you can run the report with administrator authorization. Note that the Manager Self-Service (MSS) applications do not recheck authorizations to read the already-buffered OADP data.
  • When you set up the report to run at a high frequency, you may want to update the buffer with only the latest changes. You can enter Personnel Administration (PA) infotypes or Personnel Development (PD) infotypes for change documents so that only the changes related to the infotypes are read and written in the OADP buffer.

Selection

Selection Parameter Description   Default Value      
Personnel Number The personnel number (pernr) uniquely identifies employees. Enter the personnel number of managers for whom the Object and Data Provider (OADP) buffer is updated. This parameter is optional.
Root Organization ID It contains a unique eight-digit numerical code that represents an organizational unit. Enter the root organization unit ID of the managers who require an OADP buffer update. This parameter is optional.
Evaluation Path It contains a code representing an evaluation path. Enter the evaluation path that identifies the manager assigned to a root organization unit ID. This parameter is required.   BOSSONLY  
Org. View An organizational structure view is used in the OADP to display data for a particular object. Enter the organizational structure views for the OADP buffer that is updated. This parameter is required.   SAP&DEFAULT
Org. View for Threshold The Manager Self-Service (MSS) Homepage has multiple UI screen areas that use different organizational structure views. The decision to update the buffer is based on the comparison between the organizational view, which has the maximum number of objects, and the threshold. Enter the organizational view that has the maximum number of objects. This parameter is required.
Threshold If a manager has more objects than the threshold, the system updates the data in the buffer. If the number of objects is less than or equal to the threshold, the buffer is not updated. The threshold is also evaluated by the Manager Self-Service UI. When the number of objects is less than or equal to the threshold, the system uses a synchronous method to update the buffer. Otherwise, the system uses an asynchronous method. The threshold specified for the Manager Self-Service UI must be the same as the one specified for this report. This parameter is required.   100
Overwrite Buffer It updates the OADP buffer for all the objects.   X
Update Changes Since Last Run It updates the buffer for managers who have employees or objects that have changed since the last run.

Run with Current User Authorization Runs the report with the current logged-on user authorization

The system creates individual batch jobs for each manager and runs the batch job with manager authorization.

NOTE

  • In case of conflicting selection criteria, for example, if both the personnel numbers and the root organization ID are entered, then the system takes both and processes them.
  • If you want to select the Update Changes Since Last Run radio button and run the report, you must have activated the change documents in Customizing for the corresponding infotypes. To activate the change documents for Personnel Development (PD) infotypes, specify the settings in Customizing for Personnel Management under Organizational Management -> Basic Settings -> Activate Change Documents. To activate the change documents for Personnel Administration (PA) infotypes, specify the settings in Customizing for Personnel Management under Personnel Administration -> Tools -> Revision -> Set Up Change Document. In this mode, the report updates the buffer for the employee or the object for which the change document was created for specific infotypes. The report identifies only changes to data that is stored in the infotypes that are related to employees or objects. For example, it does not identify changes to the time recording data for an employee.,,

Additionally, the MSS application uses these variants to retrieve organizational view data. If you want to create a new variant, update the variant parameter in the application configuration. Output

When you select the Run with Current User Authorization radio button and the system performs an update of the buffer, an SAP List Viewer (ALV) table with the log displays. This log contains success messages and failure messages for every manager for each organizational structure view.

When you select the Submit Background Job for Manager radio button and the system creates a batch job, an ALV table with the log displays. This ALV table contains a list of jobs that the system creates for the managers. You can see the actual logs in transaction SLG1 for the object HRMSS and the subobject HRMSS_OADP.
