RSBCS_CONTENT_REORG - BCS: Delete Unused KPRO Documents

Purpose

In the Business Communication Services (BCS) environment documents are stored in the Knowledge Provider (KPRO). These documents are usually the binary parts of incoming and outgoing messages (e-mails, faxes), GOS documents, or SAPoffice documents. Depending on the configuration, the documents are kept either in the database (table SOFFCONT1), or on an external content server.

When BSV data is reorganized (report RSBCS_REORG), the document contents stored in KPRO are deleted. However, due to inconsistencies, BCS documents that are no longer used and are therefore data trash may still remain in KPRO.

Important:
Report RBCS_CONTENT_REORG only deletes unused documents. Nevertheless you should never start the report in productive systems if no backup system is available from which the data could be reimported if necessary.

Features

The report uses table SREQRORG for temporary storage. This also happens in test mode, where no other database changes are made. At the end of the run, the stored data is deleted again. If any data remains after a termination, it is deleted automatically when the report is next started. Alternatively, you can start the report using the option "Only Delete Temporary Data Generated by This Report" (table SREQRORG).

Selection

The number of documents to delete can be restricted in the productive run (0 means: No restriction).

Activities

The report should not be run regularly. If the document storage is very large, data can be deleted with RSBCS_REORG. If this report does not reduce the data volume, note its output. There may be application usages preventing the data from being deleted. For more information, see SAP Note 988057.

Even with few inconsistences the report can result in long runtimes and should be run in the background in productive operation.
