Purpose

You can use this program to execute a mass conversion of standard InfoCubes to flat InfoCubes.

You can use this program for the following use cases:

  • You want to use BLU Acceleration and you already have row-organized standard InfoCubes in your system. You want to convert these standard InfoCubes to flat InfoCubes with a flat structure and column-organized tables.
  • You want to convert column-organized InfoCubes with a standard format (“star schema”) to flat InfoCubes.
  • If you are still using SAP BW 7.4 with Support Package 09, you need this program to convert new standard InfoCubes to flat InfoCubes. With SAP BW 7.4 with Support Package 09, flat InfoCubes cannot be created directly in the Data Warehousing Workbench.

Integration

Prerequisites

InfoCubes with inventory data can have requests that contain historic inventory data (history transaction data). Make sure that you compress these requests before you start the conversion. In addition, make sure that you have a recent full backup of your system before you start the conversion.

For further information about supported platforms and other prerequisites, please read SAP Note 2446889 "Mass Conversion of Star InfoCubes to Flat InfoCubes".

Procedure

  1. When you see the system prompt, confirm that you have compressed historic data in inventory InfoCubes and that you have created a full backup of your system.
  2. The program displays a list of InfoCubes that can be converted on the Convertible InfoCubes tab page. InfoCubes that cannot be converted to the flat format are listed on the Non-Convertible InfoCubes tab page. On the Conversion Jobs tab page, you will find all jobs that have already run, all scheduled jobs, and all jobs currently running.
  3. Check the list on the Non-Convertible InfoCubes tab page and the reasons why these InfoCubes cannot be converted.
  4. If necessary, remove the reasons why some InfoCubes cannot be converted and choose Regenerate Worklist.
  5. Select the InfoCubes on the Convertible InfoCubes tab page that you want to convert.
  6. To schedule a conversion, choose Schedule Conversion on the Convertible InfoCubes tab page.

Results

The system schedules the conversion job. All InfoCubes that are scheduled for conversion are then listed on the Conversion Jobs tab page.

You can use the Refresh Display of Worklist button to update the lists on the Convertible InfoCubes and Non-Convertible InfoCubes tab pages.
