Title

Converting a Transaction Variants into a Number of Screen Variants

Purpose

This report is automatically started at release upgrade to releases >= 4.6A (XPRA).

You can continue to work in your system while this report is running without any problems. Exception: Transaction variants that have not been converted remain unknown in the system.

If this report did not run at upgrade or if it terminated, you can start report RSHD_TV_SCRV in the current system to convert transaction variants.

Prerequisites

Report RSHD_TV_SCRV_XPRA is only for use by those customers that use transaction variants or that have applications for which transaction variants have been delivered. The transaction variant concept and its functionality have been reworked for Release 4.6A.

New Functionality in Release 4.6A:

- In addition to transaction variants, that will continue to exist, there are so-called screen variants that allow the user to set values and attributes for fields in exactly one screen.

- Cross-client transaction variants and scrren variants now have their own customer namespace and are automatically attached to the Workbench Organizer.

The new functions available make a technical change necessary in how data is stored. Report RSHD_TV_SCRV_XPRA automatically converts all transaction variants found in the system to the new technical structure when upgrading from Release 3.0x, 3.1x, 4.0x, or 4.5x to Release 4.6x.

Features

This report reads all table entries for the transaction entries selected on the selection screen. The names of existing transaction variants are changed: The system inserts the name of the transaction in front of the variant name. For example, the transaction variant 'TEST' for transaction 'SE38' is renamed 'SE38_TEST'. Screen variants are created for each screen present in the transaction variant. Their names are constructed as follows: (client)__ . Screen variants with the same name are not overwritten. The tables of the new structures are filled with these entries.

Transaction variants names used in variant transactions are also adjusted according to the convention mentioned above.

You can use report RSHD_TV_SCRV to manually start those transaction variants and variant transactions that were not converted. You can then enter the names of the variants you want to convert on the report's selection screen.
