SAP UI Landscape Maintenance Tool

With the SAP UI Landscape Maintenance Tool, you can create, display and edit SAP UI Landscape XML data centrally. You can load the XML data as file from a local directory on your computer, via a URL or by reading the data from the database. And if you want to start creating a new XML file from scratch, you choose Create New Landscape. After you have selected a file or chosen Create New Landscape, a screen will be displayed where you will be able to create, edit and change XML entries.

On this screen, you can then either see your loaded XML data or empty tables, if you have chosen to create a new landscape on the screen before. The XML tag structure is reflected in the tabs displayed on the screen: Message Servers, Routers, Workspaces, Services, Configuration and Includes. For more information on the XML structure, click on the corresponding i-button on the Services tab (the one with the little black corner).

The tabs are based on ALV grid technology, thus, all general ALV grid functionality is available. You can switch between display and edit mode using the Display/Change button.

If you have uploaded an XML file, the corresponding entries are directly shown on the different tabs. If you have chosen to create a new landscape in the screen before, you can fill in data either manually or by using the migration or the merge function.

Migration and Merging Functionalities

You have the following migration and merging possibilities:

  • Migration of Message Servers and Routers
  • The files SAPMSG.INI, SAPROUTE.INI and SERVICES will be merged with the present data in the tool.

  • Note: The report only migrates these ini* files. You can use other paths, but no files with other name

  • Merge present data with existing landscape data
  • You can merge data with existing landscape data. Normally, this is the SAPUILandscape.xml that is created by SAP Logon 7.40 by default.

Interdependencies

The program uses the HTTP protocol to load data via a URL. It must be ensured that the data is directly accessible via the URL. For example, access via a proxy server is not possible with this program.

Note that there are some interdependencies between the tabs:

  • For each existing UUID for a message server, there must exist a corresponding MSID on the Services tab strip. Or the message server must be found in the specified include file on the Includes tab.
  • For the existing SERVICEID on the Workspace tab, there must be a corresponding UUID on the Services tab.
  • In order for a connection to be displayed in the SAP logon, there must be a corresponding UUID on the Workspaces tab for each UUID on the Services tab. This means that at least one "item" must be created on the Workspaces tab that references an existing UUID on the Services tab.
  • It is possible to change the name of a service. The name of the corresponding item on the Workspaces tab will be changed automatically.

By double-clicking the UUID on the Message Servers tab, the report navigates to the corresponding MSID on the Services tab – and vice versa.

  • Note: It is not possible to change existing UUIDs, MSIDs and SERVICEIDs.

Consistency Check

You can check the consistency of the UUIDs on the Message Servers, Services and Workspaces tabs, by choosing the Consistency Check. The consistency check displays an error log in a separate popup, if an inconsistency has been found.

UUID Creation

UUIDs can be created on the Message Servers, Routers and Services tabs by choosing Enter or by double-clicking in UUID field:

In field MSID on the Services tab, a name (three characters) of a message server can be entered. When you double-click on the name, the program looks in the Message Server tab and in the XML file specified on the Includes tab for an existing message server. If the message server exists, the corresponding UUID will be transferred into field MSID.

Additional Functionality on the Workspaces Tab

The Workspaces tab contains functionality additional to the general ALV grid options. This functionality is only available in edit mode:

  • The Delete Button erases one selected node from the tree.

  • With the Insert button it is possible to create new nodes and items in the Workspaces tree.

  • Using the Edit button a selected node or item in the tree can be modified.

  • It is possible to move items to a workspace node (by drag&drop).

  • It is possible to mark a node or item with the Select node to movebutton to move the node to another position in the tree. The source node will be displayed in blue color. For the reassignment, a target node must be selected using the Select target node to reassign button. Depending on the node type, you can reassign a node on the same level as the target node or as sub node.

Additional Functionality on the Services Tab

On the Services tab you can enter notes in the MEMO field.

Viewing XML Data

  • Generally, when you save changes to your landscape data, the corresponding XLM file is displayed automatically.
  • The XML data of an include is displayed by double-clicking a cell of column URL on the Includes tab.

Configuration Tab Grids

  • Only the configuration data in the upper window pane are editable.
  • The fields GENERATOR and UPDATED on the Landscape tab are updated by the report when saving changed data.

Navigation

  • Double-clicking the UUID on the Message Servers tab navigates to the corresponding MSID on the Services tab.
  • Double-clicking the SERVICEID on Workspaces tab navigates to the corresponding UUID on the Services tab.
  • To navigate between the tabs, click on the tab strip. Each click on a tab strip is registered. By pressing the Back button, each clicked tab will be activated in reverse order.

Saving Changed Data

  • Using the Save button, the data will be stored in the source that has been chosen on the selection screen.
  • Using the Save data into... button, you can choose to save the changed data into a file or into DB table.

Deleting

  • If a service is deleted on the Service tab, the corresponding entry on the Workspaces tab is also deleted.
  • Note:
  • The deleted entries on the Services tab can be undone via the Undo button. However, the corresponding workspaces entries remain deleted and must be created manually again on the Workspaces tab.

  • Deleting a service entry that contains a UUID in field LINK can lead to inconsistencies.

Change mode possible in multiple sessions

  • The report can be edited in several sessions. You must then consider where and what you change and where you store the data. Otherwise, unintended data changes may occur or result in data loss!
