Description

The Business Transaction Analysis (Transaction STAD) delivers workload statistics across business transactions (that is, a user's transaction that starts when a transaction is called [/n....] and that ends with an update call or when the user leaves the transaction) and jobs.

Requirements

Ensure that the system is recording statistics (profile parameter stat/level = 1).

To display the business transaction or job totals, choose Show business transaction totals. To display the single records grouped by business transaction or job, choose Show all records, grouped by business transaction. To display single records as they are displayed in Transaction STAT, choose Show all statistic records, sorted bystart time.

The start date and time define the beginning of the period to be analyzed, the read time defines the duration of that period. Remember that the system tries to deliver the whole transaction. Therefore the system analyzes a time frame that is larger than the read time. Nevertheless, some long-running transactions or jobs might not be fully included in the analysis.

If you select a user in Show all statistic records, sorted by start time or Show all records, grouped by businesstransaction, the system only reads and displays those records that have this user's "fingerprint" . If you select a user in Show business transaction totals, the system reads all records but only displays the records that belong to a business transaction that was initialized by this user. Note that if you select a user the first two options, you may miss records that belong to this user (even if you change to the third option afterwards). This is because the user may cause load under user SAPSYS, for example. Selecting a transaction, program or task type which can not be selected in the third option, has the same effect. Again, be careful when you preselect a transaction, for example, and than change to Show business transaction totals. Setting a minimum time value (or Bytes req. or DB changes) will display all single records in the first two options which are above these values. In the third option Show businesstransaction totals, the limits are set for the whole transaction or job.

If you choose Include statistics from memory, the system also analyzes statistical records that were not yet written to the statistic file, but which are contained in the statistics buffer. If you want to analyze very recent time periods, you should obviously include the buffered records.

With Server selection, you can analyze the statistics only of specific servers . Remember that when you use this option, you may miss records that belong to the transaction. If you choose Additional options, you can influence the time frame mentioned above or the wait time for RFCs to be analyzed if you did not receive data from a server that was called as a result of RFC problems, or busy application servers that increase wait time.

Output

To display the business transaction or job totals, choose Show business transaction totals. To display single records grouped by business transaction or job, choose Show all records, grouped by business transaction. To display single records as they are displayed in Transaction STAT, choose Show all statistic records, sorted bystart time.
