Title
HMF Declaration - Document Version
Purpose
This report selects data for creating the HMF declaration -- a quarterly declaration to the U.S. authorities that reports the value of goods loaded and unloaded in U.S. harbors.
The Harbor Maintenance Fee (HMF) is used to maintain and extend ports and harbors in the U.S. and is paid to the Department of Treasury by companies who import and export merchandise at a rate of 0.125% of the value of the transported goods.
The system calculates the harbor maintenance fee for exports only.
Features
The basis of the HMF declaration is the data the system collects when creating a regular Shipper's Export Declaration (SED). The system evaluates all dispatches leaving the U.S. from a U.S. port by ship and then totals the value of the goods.
Since data differs slightly in declarations, you can define the data record for
- Exporters
- Forwarding agents
You can limit the output to
- Only exports which require customs declaration
- Take exports into account that do not require declaration (valued at US$ 2500 or less)
You can also select processing options to
- Aggregate items that have the same commodity code in a billing document
- Sort the data by sales organization
Output
The system selects data for the year an quarter you specify and calculates the harbor maintenance fee for the selected transactions.
The output is in the form of a table and includes a significant amount of data to include
- Port of transportation
- Licensing information
- Date of transfer
- Serial numbers
- Destination
- U.S. port
- Weight
- Vessel name, and
- Various additional data
From the output screen, you can print the document or download it to a local file in the following formats:
- Unconverted
- XLS format
- HTML format
- RTF format
