Purpose

Central demo program for virtually all standard PDF-based forms created and used in class BC480.

For training purposes only!

Integration

Prerequisites

An http connection to a J2EE engine with Adobe Document Services deployed on it must have been created in transaction SM59.

Features

Selection

  • Form:an active PDF-based form with a suitable interface. Use transaction SFP to maintain forms.
  • Customer number: the numbers entered here correspond to the IDs in table SCUSTOM. (This table is the customer table used in the flight data model.)
  • Advanced functions/Data source:
  • Determine customers yourself: If this option is checked, the user can manually enter the customer numbers. If this option is unchecked, the program will automatically look up table SCUSTOM and find four random customers that come from four different countries.
This second setting is helpful to demo language dependencies, like address formatting or date formatting.

  • Bookings from database: If this option is checked, the bookings for every customer will be read from table SBOOK.

  • Determine number of bookings: If this option is checked, the entries in table SBOOK will be ignored and a random number of bookings (which the user must specify) for every customer will be read.
This option is helpful to test page breaks within the bookings table created on the invoice: instead of manually looking for a customer with, say, 21 bookings and one with 22 bookings, the user can enter 21 or 22 directly.

  • Image URL: This option makes sense for forms that have an image field.

  • Advanced functions/Language/Country:
  • Sending country (for address): The country entered here determines the country from which the letter is sent. Hence, it determines whether the letter is foreign or domestic mail.
For example, if a customer lives in the UK (like customer number 5) and you enter DE for the sending country, the address will be formatted with the addition of "United Kingdom". However, if you enter GB, this addition will not appear in the address as the mail is treated as domestic.
If the user happens to see no difference in the resulting PDF, most properly the exercise where the address is created (unit "Interface") was not solved properly.

  • Locale for form:A locale is the combination of a language and a country.
The languageentered here determines the form's language. Changes here will work only if the form has actually been translated - which is not a standard exercise in the class.
The countryentered here determines currency symbols, date formats, etc. For example, a date 15/08/1969 should resolve to Aug 15, 1969 in the US, but to 15-Aug-1969 in the UK.

Standard Variants

Output

You will get one PDF document for every customer entered on the selection-screen.
