Title

BW Generation Tool

Purpose

The BW Generation Tool is a generic tool used for creating and managing generated ABAP sources. It is an aid to users who want to generate ABAP coding.

Using a program class, an application registers a template. This template contains template rows for the coding that you want to generate, as well as metacode that checks the replacement of the template rows. ABAP is used as a meta-language.

To be able to use the tool, an application has to define a program class for an application object type, support a 25-place GUID for objects of this object type, and provide, in the metacode of the template, the metadata required for generation.

The tool provides function modules

• for checking the syntax of a template,

• for generating ABAP code from a template,

• for storing the generated ABAP code in a GUID namespace,

• for managing the status of generated programs,

• for managing locks made in generated programs,

• for transporting variants for locally generated programs, and

• for generating and convreting 25-place GUIDs.
