SAPLRSSHIER - Hierarchy Management

Description

This function group carries out the display and maintenance of hierarchies in BW. It is called up from program SAPRSHIER, which is called from the Data Warehousing Workbench.

The central control function module is RSSH_HIERARCHY_CALLBACK which accepts the node and command and calls the corresponding function module.

Tree management

In display mode only the part that is actually displayed is read. The tree ia managed by function group RSHI.

In change mode the whole tree is imported. With larger hierarchies this can take quite some time. The function group is again responsible for displaying and holding data. When you save, collapsed subtrees are read from the imported hierarchy for this function group. However, some of the hierarchy information is also constantly up-dated in this function group so that the consistency of the tree can be guaranteed: no overlaps or links are allowed.

Nodes and leaves

A hierarchy is always assigned to exactly one InfoObject. This is usually a leaf, but can also be a higher level of the same InfoObject (for example, a higher-level work center).

The standard node has the InfoObject 0HIER_NODE and is always assigned to a hierarchy. A standard node can never be under the hierarchy assigned to the InfoObject.

Variable InfoObjects as nodes are planned (for example, country), but not yet realized in maintenance. A leveled hierarchy is also planned but not yet realized.
