Description

If the Postal regional structure is active, addresses specified (for example, by business partners or functional location) are checked for correctness (spelling, postal code, ...). Entering addresses is also made easier by search help and automatic completion.

The Postal regional structure address check is integrated in Business Address Services (component BC-SRV-ADR).

The following checks are made when an address is input (not necessarily complete):

  • Spelling of city, district and street
  • Are city, street and postal code specified (if required)?
  • Are district and city, and street and city, and district and street compatible?
  • Does the postal code exist (incl. PO Box postal code)?
  • Is the postal code allowed for delivery or PO Box?
  • Is the postal code allowed in the city? Is it correct for the postal section of the street, if it has a postal code? Is it correct for the district, if it has a postal code?

If an address is entered partially, the system tries to find the missing entries itself. The country must always be specified. Examples:

  • Only the postal code is specified. The system gets the city and the street, if they depend unambiguously on the postal code. If there are several possibilities, a salection window appears.
  • City, street and house number are specified, the postal code and the district are found.
  • The region is derived from the other entries.

The fields 'Street' and 'City' have search help with which several address fields can be filled at once. The street search help, for example, the city, the country and the region as well as the street.

Requirements

The postal regional structure address check is only active for objects that use Business Address Services.

The postal regional structure address check can be activated countrywise using a switch in the country table T005. This field is maintained in customizing under: Global settings -> Countries -> Country-specific checks, flag 'City file active'.

To use the postal regional structure address check ,the postal codes, cities and streets must first be created in the system. See also the documentation of the function groups SZRP, SZRC and SZRT.
