Description

The name of the function group, TAXI, stands for 'Tools for using tAbstrips a-X applIcations'. The function group provides a number of function modules that can be used for the dynamic modification of screens that consist of a fixed header area and a variable tabstrip area. The concept is based on the idea that there is a transaction that provides the frame for a number of screens that can be called. Each screen consists of a header area that does not change, or changes only very slightly, and a tabstrip containing the work area. If you go to another screen, the content of the work area changes, but the header area (ideally) stays the same. The title of the tabstrip depends on which screen group the current screen belongs to. It can change if a screen from a different screen group is called.

The functiion modules that are provided support the dynamic naming of the tab pages. As the collection of function codes for the tabstrip are static, but the semantics of the individual tabs change with the different titles, the translation of these generically used function codes to a semantic function code is possible. In addition, support is provided for calling from external program pools screens that want to adopt the fixed header and possibly also the title and/or status.

The prerequisite for this is the adjustment of previous full screens to make embedding in the above-mentioned tabstrip possible, and an adjustment of the interface between the calling environment and the called environment in the case of external screens. The required adjustments are detailed in an external document that is available in the SD area.
