Purpose

Inbound and outbound IDocs are usually linked to other relevant documents. If errors occur, these links help you to identify all documents involved in the process. If you do not need this information, you can choose Deactivate Links. This also helps to minimize the amount of data that needs to be saved when you process IDocs.

Integration

Prerequisites

Note the following restrictions before you use the transaction to deactivate IDoc links:

  • Do not deactivate links if you will need them later to reconstruct a document flow.
  • If, for example, you want to perform an ALE audit for certain message types, then you must not deactivate the links (link type IDC4) for these message types.

  • You cannot deactivate links below message type level.
  • For example, you cannot deactivate a link for the message type ORDERS for certain sender systems, and not for others. You can only deactivate this link for all IDocs with the message type ORDERS.

Features

  • You can deactivate the following link types:
  • IDC0: Outbound Document Linked with Outbound IDoc

  • IDC1: Inbound IDoc Linked with Inbound Document

  • IDC2: Inbound IDoc Linked with Communication IDoc

  • IDC3: Inbound IDoc Linked with Original IDoc After Edit

  • IDC4: Inbound IDoc Linked with Outbound IDoc in Source System

  • IDC7: Outbound IDoc Linked with Original IDoc After Edit

  • IDCB: Inbound IDoc Linked with Outbound Document in Source System

  • IDC9: Outbound IDoc Linked with Inbound Document in Target System

  • You can deactivate a link type for all message types or just for selected message types.

Activities

  1. If you want to exclude a link type, select the type under Non-Excluded Link Types and choose Move Link Type.
  2. If you no longer want to exclude an excluded link type, select the type under Excluded Link Types and choose Move Link Type.
  3. If you want to exclude a link type for certain message types only, select the type and choose Exclude Message Type. Enter the name of the message type in the dialog box. Repeat this for all message types for which you want to exclude the link type.
  4. If you want to cancel step 3, select the message type and choose Do Not Exclude Message Type.

Example

You may want to deactivate links in the following situations:

  • IDocs from an external system without IDoc management
  • If the sending system has no IDoc management, then it cannot assign unique numbers to its outbound IDocs. Any links to inbound IDocs would not provide any useful information.

  • Mass processing of master data
  • If errors occur during the mass processing of master data, then individual IDocs with errors are not processed. Instead, the entire process is repeated. Links to individual IDocs are not required in this case.
