Purpose

Register namespaces for ATC checks.

The ATC is able to check ABAP repository objects in the standard namespaces Y* and Z*, as well as objects in namespaces that meet both of the following conditions:

  • The namespace is defined in the system with role Producer, meaning that development can take place on objects in the namespace
  • The namespace is not owned by SAP

This namespace registration is used only by the ATC and has no effect on the namespaces that you have licensed with SAP.

Procedure

To register or de-register namespaces with the ATC, do the following:

  1. Log on to one of your development systems. Choose your development client for the logon.
  2. In transaction SE38, start report SATC_AC_INIT_NAMESPACE_REG.
The report displays all namespaces in the system, having role Producer and not owned by SAP.
The Registered column is marked if a namespace has already been registered with the ATC.
Note that the standard Y* and Z* namespaces are not shown. Objects in these namespaces can always be quality-checked by the ATC and do not need to be registered with the ATC.
  1. Mark the namespaces that should be checked by the ATC.
  2. Click on Register to register namespaces with the ATC.
Deregister deletes the registration.
Objects in registered namespaces can be checked by the ATC. De-registering a namespace stops the ATC from checking ABAP repository objects in the namespace.
Should the Register and Deregister buttons remain gray and inactive, then you do not have the required authorization for registering namespaces (role SAP_SATC_ADMIN.
  1. Whether you register or deregister namespaces, the system presents a transport dialog.
Select (or create, if necessary) a transport request and confirm that your namespace registrations or de-registrations should be entered into the transport request.
  1. Switch to transaction SE09. Release the transport.
When the transport has been imported into your ATC master system (usually a non-development system such as your consolidation or test/quality system), then the ATC can run central quality checks on objects in the registered namespaces on the master system.
