Purpose

This report checks the consistency of the data in table BALDAT, which saves the application log data.

The data is stored in clusters, with a cluster representing a block of 150 log messages. If a cluster is damaged (usually by missing table entries), the block can no longer be read. Some inconsistencies force the application program to be canceled.

This report searches for the following data errors:

  • The data field CLUSTD is empty.
  • The field SRTF2 is not filled from zero upwards without gaps.
  • The cluster is not closed by the end byte.
  • The block contains non-unique data for some messages (for example, all data is duplicated).
  • Other miscellaneous reading errors

Integration

Prerequisites

Features

Selection

You can define the logs to check using selection criteria.

You can also specify whether only errors are displayed (recommended) or information about every selected log.

You can also specify that the program deletes the blocks with errors immediately.

Standard Variants

Output

The program displays all detected errors for each log and block. If you also specified information messages, all selected logs are displayed with their blocks and and a corresponding message (such as "No error").

Activities

Some errors only exist temporarily and you can repeat the check in these cases (by restricting it to only the logs with errors). If an error persists, the only solution is to delete the blocks in question from the database permanently.
