Purpose

Use this report to configure the connection data between SAP NetWeaver Application Server (SAP NetWeaver AS) and the streaming component, such as SAP HANA Smart Data Streaming. When called, the reports SECM_LOG_2_ESP and SECM_MASTER_DATA_2_ESP use this data to send data to the streaming component for processing. The streaming component then sends this data to SAP HANA to be consumed by SAP Enterprise Threat Detection.

Configuration for the Streaming Component

You can create multiple configurations and schedule different jobs for one or more of them. Multiple configurations offer a number of options:

  • Prepare a backup data streaming component during a planned downtime.
  • Separate log data from context data.
  • Separate different logs between different jobs to reduce the number of authorizations required by the user executing the job.

Avoiding scheduling the same log in multiple jobs. You do not want SAP NetWeaver AS sending the same log content multiple times.

Configuration for SAP Start Service

If you configured table SECM_LOGS to include the HTTP server log, the system log or gateway log, you must configure the SAP Start Service. You can specify that the SAP Start Service is accessed through a certificate by selecting this option and specify the client identity that is maintained in STRUST.
For more information, see SAP Note 1439348 and 2367684.
You can also enter the user ID and password of an operating system user configured to have access to these logs. Configure this user in the profile parameter service/admin_users. Otherwise you must enter the user ID and password of adm, which we do not recommend for security reasons.

For more information, see SAP Note 927637.

We recommend that you protect the connection with SSL.

The configuration of the SAP Start Service applies to all configurations on this application server for SAP Enterprise Threat Detection. If you delete or edit this configuration, it applies to the other configuration as well.

Resetting Timestamps

The timestamps are used by SECM_LOG_2_ESP and SECM_MASTER_DATA_2_ESP to determine which log entries and master data changes to send to the streaming component. If you have stopped SECM_LOG_2_ESP for a longer period of time, you might want to ignore older timestamps. Depending on how long the outage was, SECM_LOG_2_ESP will consume resources and require a period of time to catch up with current timestamps. Reset the timestamps to ignore the older data and start sending log entries from the last 5 minutes.

To reset timestamps, choose the Reset Timestamps pushbuttons at the top.

For more information about how SECM_LOG_2_ESP send log data, see SECM_LOG_2_ESP.

Configuration for System Settings

Here you can specify a cache size.

Integration

Prerequisites

  • You have configured your SAP Enterprise Threat Detection landscape.
This configuration includes the installation and configuration of the streaming component to receive the log data. To send data in a compressed format, you must have installed an extension to the web service of the streaming component.
For more information, see http://help.sap.com/sapetd.
  • You have enabled the logs you want to send to SAP Streaming in table SECM_LOGS.
For more information, see SECM_LOGS.
  • To use secure sockets layer (SSL) to protect the connections, you must have established trust between SAP NetWeaver AS and the streaming component.
We recommend that you protect all connections with secure sockets layer (SSL).

Activities

  1. Enter an ID for the configuration.
If you enter the ID for an existing configuration, you can edit or delete the configuration.
  1. Select the version of SAP Enterprise Threat Detection.
Choosing the version to match SAP Enterprise Threat Detection ensures the greatest compatibility between the log provider and SAP Enterprise Threat Detection. A mismatch in the configuration results in either only a subset of the features functioning or an inability for communication to function between SAP NetWeaver AS and the streaming component.
  1. Enter the connection data for the web service of the streaming component, including protocol, host name, and port.
This web service is installed on the streaming component.
For more information, contact the administrator of the streaming component in your system landscape.
To increase the data rate of the connection, enable compression on the HTTP level.
  1. Determine if you must configure the SAP Start Service.
If you use the system log, gateway log, or HTTP server log, make sure you have a valid configuration for the SAP Start Service (on the next tab). This configuration applies to all configurations for SAP Streaming for this report.
If the configuration is incorrect, choose the Configuration for SAP Start Service tab and make the required changes.
  1. Determine if you need to specify space for a cache.
On the Configuration for System Settings tab, enter the maximum cache size.
  1. Execute the report to save your entries.
  2. Test your configuration with report SECM_LOG_2_ESP or SECM_MASTER_DATA_2_ESP.
For more information, see the documentation for these reports.
