SAP E-Book

Purpose

Use this report to download the log data from the logs configured in table SECM_LOGS. Use this report for troubleshooting or for distributing log data when there is no network connection between this system and SAP Enterprise Threat Detection.

Integration

SAP Enterprise Threat Detection includes a project for importing these log files, pull_logs_from_file.

Prerequisites

  • You have configured your SAP Enterprise Threat Detection landscape.
This configuration includes the installation and configuration of SAP ESP to receive the log data.
For more information, see http://help.sap.com/sapetd.
  • You have enabled the logs you want to send to SAP ESP in table SECM_LOGS.
For more information, see SECM_LOGS.
  • To receive e-mail notifications in case of error, you have configured SAPconnect to send e-mails from SAP NetWeaver AS.
  • To download the logs onto the host application server, you have configured logical file paths for the header and detail log data (up to and including SP02) or the event log data (from SP03 on) respectively.
Use transaction FILE. Include the element in the physical paths.
Example logical paths for header data:
  • Physical path for UNIX: /tmp/etd/log_header/

  • Physical path for Windows: \\\tmp\etd\log_header\

Example logical paths for detail data:
  • Physical path for UNIX: /tmp/etd/log_detail/

  • Physical path for Windows: \\\tmp\etd\log_detail\

Activities

  1. Determine whether you want to download the files on the host application server or your client machine.
  • To download on the host application server, choose the Application Server option.

  • To download on your client machine, choose the Presentation Server option.

  1. Specify your version of SAP Enterprise Threat Detection.
Enter the target file paths for the log data. Depending on the version, enter a path for header and detail logs (up to and including SP02) or for events (SP03 or higher). In order to avoid information disclosure or unauthorized access to the log data, protect these paths accordingly.
  1. Determine if you want to send e-mail notifications when an error occurs.
If the report encounters a problem during the download of log data, the application sends an e-mail over SAPconnect to the mail recipients you configure here. Configure the sender and sender display name, for example, Do_not_reply@_ABAP_Log_Provider_for_ETD.
  1. Execute the report.
The report shows the result of the download attempt. If you added e-mail notification and an error occurred the report sends an e-mail to the addresses you entered.
