Purpose

You use this report to trigger and optimize the batch job conversion of the registered documents. You have to schedule a batch job which executes this report periodically.

Integration

Prerequisites

You have made the settings in Customizing for BAdI: Batch Job for Starting Conversion of Registered Files under Cross-Application Components -> Document Management -> Conversion of Original Application Files -> Visual Enterprise Generator.

Features

Selection

1. Depending on the application area to which the registered documents belong, enter the application area in the Application Type field.

You can trigger only one conversion cycle for a particular application area at a time.

1. Specify N in the No. of Recordsfield. N represents the maximum number of registered documents that you want to process during a single batch job run.
2. Specify X in the Records per Jobfield. X represents the number of registered documents that should be a part of a single job for conversion.
3. Select Assembly & Part (all).

If you configure batch job to run periodically at a specific time interval, then each time the batch job runs, it processes N number of registered documents for conversion. Conversion of N number of documents will be done by multiple jobs, where each job processes X number of documents.

1. Select one of the following ways of optimization for conversion:

• Assembly and Part (optimized):

The batch job processes N number of documents from table Registration Entries for Conversion (VEG_REG). Optimization is achieved by reducing the number of jobs that are created for conversion. Those documents which have a parent document present among the N number of documents are removed. A single conversion job of the parent document will ensure conversion of all its child documents.

• Only Part:

Batch job is optimized for a single part file conversion. The batch job processes N number of documents with status Registered in the table Registration Entries for Conversion (VEG_REG). One batch job is created for every part file for conversion.

Select Only Partafter optimizing the document structure for Only Assembly. This is best for a document structure that has variant configuration materials for complete variant conversion.

• Only Assembly:

Batch job is optimized for assembly conversion. The batch job processes N number of documents with status Assembly Conversion in the table Registration Entries for Conversion (VEG_REG). A single conversion job is created for the parent document for assembly conversion.

Note:

Part files are not removed and can be converted by selecting Only Partafter this optimization.

Standard Variants

Output

System optimizes batch job conversion and logs the status messages of the converted files in the Analyse Application Log(transaction slg1).
