Functionality

The print tag using device controller service enables a calling application such as an activity, user interface, or custom application to send an XML message to an SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure (SAP AII) device controller for the purpose of printing RFID label(s).

The service takes the device group identifier, the ID to be printed, the label format, and the quantity of labels to be printed as input. It also takes as input a list of name/value pairs to be printed on the label or written to the user memory of the RFID tag. It creates an XML message and sends it to the RFC destination of the device controller that controls the device group and printer.

The service also has a parameter that allows you to specify whether to print a new tag or label, or, whether to update an existing tag.

Notes

This core service documentation is intended for technical developers and implementation consultants. For information about the individual parameters, see the Parameters system documentation.

Message Handling

The messages generated by the services are not stored in any application log. It is the responsibility of the calling application to store the application log entries in the relevant application log objects. All the messages that are generated during the service call are returned to the calling application.

Further information

The documentation for core services can be found in SAP Help Portal at help.sap.com -> mySAP Business Suite -> SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure -> Auto-ID Core Services.

The XML schema that is sent by this service to the device controller is the Command Message schema defined in the Fixed RFID Device Integration Guide (SAP AII 4.0) which is located on the service marketplace (service.sap.com → Quick Links: SAP Solutions → mySAP Supply Chain Management → RFID → Detailed Information). The relevant part in the schema is the element.
