Functionality
With this method you can create new material master data or change existing data. With each call you can pass data for one material.
When creating new material master data, you must specify the material number, the material type and the industry. You also must enter a short text and the language of that text. When changing data, the material number suffices.
In addition, in the header data you must select at least one view for which the data is to be created. Depending on the selected view, you need to maintain further required parameters. If not all required parameters a filled, the method ends with an error message.
The call must pass data to the corresponding table fields (for example CLIENTDATA). You must also set an identifier for these fields, because only then the data will be written to the database. To do this, you must supply the corresponding field with the identifier in a selection table (for example CLIENTDATAX). Selection tables exist for tables that are not language-dependent (MAKT, MLTX) and that do not contain any International Article Numbers (MEAN) or any tax classifications (MLAN). In these tables you can create multiple data records for a material.
If you want to maintain material long texts (basic data texts, internal comments, purchase order texts, material memos, or sales texts) or your own user-defined fields, then you need to be aware of some special features. These are described in the documentation of the parameters MATERIALLONGTEXT and EXTENSIONIN.
