Functionality

TThe get alternative format for an ID service enables a calling application such as an activity, user interface, or custom application to retrieve all possible ID formats that are defined in Customizing.

The service takes a list of IDs and an optional ID version for each ID as input, and returns the IDs in a different format. If any input ID is wrongly encoded, the system returns it returns it in a separate list of invalid IDs.

Example

You could call the service with EPCs in hexadecimal or tag URI format and can get three different representations of the same EPCs as shown below:

If the service is called and passes the ID 30740242200C0E4000000019, and ID Version EPC_1.27, in the table IT_ID, then it will return the following three alternative formats in the table ET_ID_ALT_FORMAT.

An alternative format name of blank means it is a tag URI format.

Message Handling

The messages generated by the services are not stored in any application log. It is the responsibility of the calling application to store the application log entries in the relevant application log objects. All the messages that are generated during the service call are returned to the calling application.
