All ITF information such as character and paragraph formats is lost in this conversion; the only formats are newline and tab. To fix the output width, select the line width FORMATWIDTH accordingly (see documentation of this parameter). If it is outside of the valid range, the system uses minimum or maximum values instead. The line width actually used for formatting is returned in the parameter FORMATWIDTH_E.
The TABLETYPE parameter describes the type of the result table. If you want to compress this table, that is, if you want the table to be structured like a file with a separation of the logical lines by carriage return and line feed, you must use TABLETYPE = 'BIN'. If you select TABLETYPE = 'ASC', you get a standard lines table.
With TABLETYPE = 'BIN' the ITF text can be converted into an ASCII text with any character set CODEPAGE (number from spool administration).
