Functionality

This function exit lets you integrate an external program for encoding procedures.

A text to be encoded is used to determine a relevant ICPM code. The code is determined and selected in an external program which can be called within the function exit.

You can choose to transfer a text to be encoded also. Normally the text to be encoded is specified in the transaction of the external program. The optional transfer of an existing ICPM code can be used to check the additional information on an ICPM code. This additional information depends on the functionality of the external program. For instance, particular commercially available programs can determine links to relevant flat rates per case and procedures surcharges on the basis of a transferred ICPM code.

Different processing modes of the procedure encoding programs (e.g. check mode if the ICPM code is transferred) are triggered by means of the function code for the external programs.

The ICPM code and the associated text are the basic values returned to the calling program. An additional return value contains the number of characters by which the determined ICPM code is truncated. This can occur when a 6-character ICPM code was selected in the external program for procedure encoding and the IS-H catalog only contains a 5-character entry.

The parameters for the identification number and location describe a surgery-related service more precisely, even if this service cannot be expressed by a unique ICPM code.

Please read the documentation on the individual transfer parameters.
