Functionality

You use this function to generate the composition of one or more output substance from the I/O substances formula view. If data has already been entered on the Composition view, you can overwrite it if required.

Prerequisites

  • The units of the output substances and input substances have the same dimension. This requirement must be met on all explosion levels of the formula.
  • In Customizing for Formulas, it is specified which value assignment type is used to determine the composition of a substance in the specification database (see environment parameter FRML_COMP_CONVERSION_PROPERTY).

Ingredient Determination

The system performs a multi-level explosion of the I/O substances view for the formula in which you generate the composition. Starting with the initial formula, the following checks are performed for the input substance of each explosion level:

  1. The function checks the substance categories of the input substances. If, according to Customizing, a substance does not have to be broken down further, it is transferred to the composition directly. The substance is not exploded.
  2. The function checks for the remaining input substances whether the specification database contains a composition with the value assignment type defined in Customizing. If this is the case, this composition is transferred to the formula. The substance is not exploded further.
  3. The function checks for the remaining input substances whether a composition has been maintained for them in the formula of the next explosion level. If this is the case, this composition is transferred. The substance is not exploded further.

If the function did not find a composition in step 3, it repeats the above steps for the input substances of the next explosion level. This means it determines its composition.

If there is no composition for a substance even on the last explosion level, a system message is issued. The composition is created without this substance.

Substance Quantity Determination

The system uses the quantities maintained in formulas and the specification database to determine the proportion an ingredient has in the output substance in question. If several output substances have been assigned to a formula, it assumes that the quantity ratio of the input substances is the same for all output substances.

If the function cannot calculate a quantity for a substance (for example, because the units used cannot be converted to each other), generation is terminated.

Application Log

The system messages triggered during generation are collected in the application log for the formula.
