Functionality

This function serves as a search function for formula search (see SUB_QUERY). It is called when you start a search in formula maintenance of the formula information system.

The function searches for formulas to which certain input materials have been assigned on the I/O materials formula view. To influence the search, you enter the following parameters from the initial screen of formula maintenance or the formula information system:

  • Number of search levels
    You specify whether you want to perform a single-level or multi-level search.
    In a single-level search, a formula is selected if the input material you are looking for is directly contained in the formula.
    In a multi-level search, the system determines the input materials that are used to produce each input material of a formula in other formulas. It repeats this step (which is called "explosion") for all materials found. A formula is selected if the input material you are looking for is used on any explosion level of the formula.
  • Search criteria for input materials
    To identify the input materials to be taken into account, you enter their material numbers and specify whether the formulas you are searching for are supposed to contain the material or not. Through different attributes of the material item, you can further restrict the search (for example, role, standard or alternative item, target quantity, tolerances and exception values).
