Functionality

This function module is a s search help exit of a search help which has fields BEGDA and ENDDA. If the fields BEGDA and ENDDA are used by the search help, only those entries of the underlying table(s) are shown, that overlap timewise with the period of BEGDA to ENDDA., i.e. this exit suppresses completely unwanted information as it would be expected by the user.

This search help exit changes the select options of the selection at time point SELECT during the F4 processing from BEGDA = some begda AND ENDDA = some endda to BEGDA <= someendda AND ENDDA = some begda, where some begda and some enddaare taken from the fields that point to the associated fieldsof the search help.

So all entries that overlap will be shown, not all entries that are valid throughout the whole period. Only those entries that are not valid at all are not shown.

Note

Generally it is not possible to select with a validity period into a customising table and display only all entries valid in the period. This is because the link always assumes an equal ("=") relationship, which does not work for dates, i.e. an entry valid from 01.01.1990 to 31.12.9999 should be displayed in F4 if the validity of the calling object, e.g. an infotype, is 01.01.1995 to 31.12.1995.
